You can rename the 'Current.gpx' to 'SomethingElse.gpx', then rename the 'EPE.gpx' to 'Current.gpx'. It should take care of the EPE file. Don't need to hard Reset at all.

Only problem then is that POI do not show up in a favorite search!
BTW, the Custom POIs are in GPI format. You can search for them by 'Go Where' >> 'Extras' >> 'Custom POIs' >> 'All Categories' (or whatever cat.) OR <Spell>.

Thanks.
I know about the roundabout way to search for POIs vs favorites.
Hence I am not absolutely happy to use them though I guess it is one way to keep search short.

There is no need to rename EPE.gpx.The GPS seems to ADD EPE.gpx to its favorite list upon power-up.
If you rename EPE.gpx, I think the changes in EPE.gpx would have been ignored.

Could one of the gurus care to comment on this weird behavior of our Garmin GPSes?

Well, I did my marathon session last night!
Using Extra POI Editor, open the GPS favorites, edit the list from 434 to 371, tidying up all the corrections & symbols.
Save it as \Garmin\temp.gpx.
Hard reset my 370 and voila, I am good to go with 371 favorites.

Then it is on to re-select all my previous settings.

PITA - but works...

If anybody has a better solution, I am all ears....

TomTom support?

Postby Flyingninja » Mon Oct 04, 2010 9:14 am

Hi there,

I'm new here so please be gentle.

I've got a TomTom GPS. Can your maps somehow be used on the TomTom platform?

Thanks.

hi CrazY_l3oYz, :welcome: to mfm.

Mapsource is a Garmin application software, which I use primarily to edit POIs and clean up tracks for submission to this forum. It doesn't readily work with Papago. You need to convert Papago data to GPX (a Garmin file format) first before Mapsource can read it.

Anyway, the very first post of this sub-forum can help you progress.

The problem is that it doenst seem to remember the last location whenver it have been turn off (i.e. not sleep mode). Seems like the last location data is lost. However, if it was in sleep mode, then it will show the last location.

So, back to my original question: Is it possible to set the default starting point to a place in SG map instead of MY?
