Troubleshooting Garmin NUVI255 Language - Voice - None Found

Postby PYChan » Mon May 18, 2009 10:38 am

Hi MFM Moderator,

I am just starting to use this new MySGFree Maps website. I downloaded the files as instructed on the Installation Guide. The last step did not happen for me, i.e. copy to SDS card.

So I did this manually, I went into my PC Computer selected the drive C:

c:\Garmin\MalfreeMaps -> selected the entire contents, 26 files 116 MB of data
copy and paste to the SDS card as
G:\Garmin\

Turned on the GPS, it seems to have taken the new files alright, BUT first thing I noticed checking all my settings is that all the VOICE files disappeared. Do I recopy back the default voice files I had in the GPS onto G:\Garmin\... May discover other things as missing later on.

Thanks so much for your help and this :good: community. My old map made me miss so many fly-overs and turns I stopped using the GPS all together. :ko: and went back to a paper map.

Hi MFM Moderators,

Never mind this last question, I solved the problem myself - I copied the new 'gpsmapsupp.img' into the GPS's SDS card under G:\GARMIN and it's all fine, the multii lingual voice is back. It was my mistake to assume I need to copy all 26 files. I am testing some simulations, and I see that the new map is in effect.

If I am wrong though, pls let me know.

Many thanks again = PYC.
