Com'on, the InfoComm industry has gone through this path and be where it is now, with the acceptance and existence of open-source... it's time the GPS industry revolutionize and move forward.....
No lah. This doesn't seem like the situation for this particular case. The maker of CGPSMAPPER is a private 3rd party guy who made it for his own hobby, and then sold his "product" to whoever wants to buy it.
The way I see it is like this. Previously, Garmin had no competition, so their map features remained stable for a very long time (10 years or so), so the CGPSMAPPER could concentrate on improving its compatibility.
Nowadays, Garmin is forced to add more and more features to their maps due to competition, so looks like it is not viable anymore for CGPSMAPPER (which is 3rd party) to catch up due to the enormous amount of work required to test out how to make it compatible with all the new features.
Haha!! Looks like we (not MFM but GPS users in general) are the victim (discon of CGPSMAPPER) of our own success (in growing the market and getting so many competing brands into the market).
(My analysis only lah. You may have different opinions.)
