Of course the file can split into 2 section for download. For members to download it, they need to download 2 files and then click on one of the file to unzip the complete EXE file.

This process sound simple, but it is very easy to have a "bad" file downloaded and it potentially create more issue. I believe most of the members won't want to do it this way.

I say still worth a try if it can help reduce your bandwidth problem. Can still fallback to other methods if it doesn't work.

No one interested this Malfreemaps Mirror Project?

seems like a workable idea , but the best one would be a redirect script , where every time a user click on the link it redirects to one of the mirror servers .. this wont kill the main server bandwidth :)

i have about 200GB of bandwidth volume to "donate" to this clause

What about putting it up on torrent and we seed it? We know that TM do not throttle local torrent, or they already have?

My ideas is to provide "automatic" push the users to use the correct server to download the maps. For example: If the user is identified from Malaysia, he/she will NOT able to download from bro chaicka's server located in SG. Same thing applied to SG user, priority server in MY will serve MY users.

I like this idea, the traffic would be evenly spread out.

The Downloads Page had been done and put into "production"

Who ever try to download from the main link, it will automatically detect the country for the user.
If user from Malaysia, it will automatic connect to the download servers located in Malaysia. It will automatically download it from either my server or bro LiteSpeed's server.

For user from Singapore, it will divert to bro chaicka's server where it located in Singapore.

For those users from other countries, it will direct to those "public file share service" provider. ie: Rapidshare.

We should keep monitoring the downloads. What is the total bandwidth that's on both your servers? bro litespeed is about 200GB. Will it be sufficient for existing downloads?
