Can it not be their aspiration and goal to provide maps for Asia? The party likely to ridicule us, aren't they calling themselves the largest mapping community in the world? Largest in what? Inactive members? We have came through one initial year where all sorts of things were said about us. Are we affected by these slanders? Did we not continue what we set out to do and prove the slanderers wrong?

I have long desired a truly free community map from Singapore to Vietnam. Where there are existing free local communities currently covering certain countries, such as navigasi.net, we can work out some collaboration with them. Where there are individuals currently working on certain areas such as KC's North Thailand, I will invite them to join us or request from them data to help us get started. Areas where we have to start from scratch, we'll just map slowly at our own pace and leisure.

This is what I set out to do for myself and anyone who is interested to join me. Let the others ridicule or worry about being ridiculed. We have work to do and mapping to enjoy :D

Just searched the term AsianGPS, and this is what I found: http://www.asiangps.net/

It's under construction. I am interested to see their claims.

Looking at your reply. My first reaction was, "Man, what has happened to him?"

I suggest lets focus and evaluate other member's feedbacks.

If you ask how I am going to contribute, I am going to be focus on the thing I have been doing most of the time, mapping the offroad trails whenever I have the opportunity to venture out.

There are some who even thought that I might be from "the other side". I really have a lot to say about that but I questioned its benefits. Nonetheless my big "thank you" to the few who had welcomed me.

Bagong,

Plse do not be disheartened by all the replies. You may have started off on a wrong footing by your initial posting, so in the meanwhile, you just have to bear with it.... ](*,)

'Group dynamics' is exactly what it says.... it is 'dynamic :ko: in nature'. When one makes a comment, neither there's no response at all or a whole lot of responses, be it positive =D> or negative  ....

All I can say is - get to know more by reading into the archives, joining in the GGs - in time, you'll find all these guys & gals here are really a bunch of 'nice' fellas.....

btw, what's wrong is a "DREAM" - it's truly the 1st step......
some 'dream' in silence, most leaders 'dream' in public :champ: .....

Cheers, Bagong :peace: - welcome to My'ASEAN'FreeMaps......

ps: I'll be very upset  if you do remain as a silent member [-X [-X [-X

Thanks imantulen. Very inspiring comments. Still licking my wounds though. Gonna take a while. Thanks also to joeyao for his critical comments on my first posting. Points taken. Appreciate it.

=D> WTG there with that attitude and be steadfast and stay on... its with decidedly dedicated minds for positive turns that steer this group forward...

Its only a matter of getting to know the basics and knowing each other for what has and still continues with contributing efforts...(attend GG Meets - recommended) hang on in there and I hope you settle in well and confidently especially!

Thanks for all the name suggestion. I selected MyAseanFreeMaps in order to maintain our MFM initial and malfreemaps.com domain. Using other names such as MySEAFreemaps or SEAFreemaps would have needed a change to either domain or initial. So I hope everybody can bear with this name. After all, it is the "product" and "people" that matter most.

=D> Yes indeed... can't agree more on that projection as the objective is the two main purpose behind it all and staying uniform, consistent and truly identifiable to relate easily... makes it all the more KISS.

"MYASEAN" is fine with me too... :rox:
