As long as the Kingping and it's panel of cowards behind Maction / Papago decide not to give a clear statement, MFM will forever be pleagued by this incident.
Hopefully retired seniors will revive their post if not stay as Mentors !

Re: Why is Antyong Retired?
Same issue wth Edchuang lor....check Edchuang explanation:
Things had became worst when some senior in MFM decided not to release papago map anymore. For me, this is totally unacceptable and unfaired to our papago gps users, where the population is growings. So I made up my mind and decided to leave.
I want to make it clear that my retirement got nothing to do with jararaca, shairul787 or antyong. It is just my personal will. So please do not involved my nick in any of your post to achieve your personal agenda.
And to all members, while our new Leaders, Bro OngCC and Bro Sunn try to settle the current issue, please stop all your speculations. Please have faith in Bro OngCC, Bro Sunn, Mappers and Moderators.
Best Regards to All.
Sincerely Yours,
Edchuang

Is MFM breaking up as a Community Project? What Next?
Today is indeed Black Monday. First we had Bro Educhang retiring, followed by Bro Antyong. At first I thought it was a joke but frankly I had this thought that this would come one day, only I did not expect it to be so fast or so drastic.
What next for MFM? Where do we go from here? Can MFM exist purely as a voluntary forum in it's existing form? How can we protect the maps which are free from being commercially exploited? How can we prevent more senior members from "retiring" into the sunset? How can we stop MFM forum from being used by others for malicious, vengeance and commercial purposes?
Those are the questions that have to be answered. Bro drsec has made some pertinent points on these issues, you can read his post here:- viewtopic.php?f=2&p=111239#p111239.
For the first two questions, it is best left to the mappers to ponder and decide, after it is their work that is being exploited.
Before we answer the 3rd & 4th question, what was reason why MFM had started compiling maps for other vendors apart from Garmin? Bro Antyong noble intention was to provide alternative navigation platforms to consumers but sadly the end results was not what was envisioned by him, thus the despair and sadness that have caused both him and bro educhang to seek early retirement although not necessary the same.
For the 3rd question, honestly I don't know. Everything in MFM is done on a voluntary basis, even membership and contributions. Like drsec says, if you don't like here, you are free to leave.
The future of the maps lies in registering them as intellectual property. This will then stop them from being commercially exploited and you can issue a cease-and-dessit action should anyone exploited them commercially. After the registration if you want to give out the map for free, it is up to you. You may set conditions for it's use by using a licensing agreement.
Nobody has any clear answers to what is happening or what the future holds but the sad reality is that greed and selfishness is once again rearing it's ugly heads and threatening to destroy what the loyal members had built over the past two years.

This is not the time to ask if we are breaking up. This is a time to consolidate our effort and support our new Leaders to move forward. Why waste time and energy to discuss something You and I don't Fully Know?... or you know something which I don't know? When the time comes I'm sure the Admin will give us their story... Let's stay clam and enjoy our hobby....
What's Next? - Be Happy Lah!... cheers!
