Can localize Garmin JCV/LA unit display JCV/LA for other Countries? If no, what model of Garmin should I buy to view JCV/LA for other countries including My/Sg? Basically I want one that's without restrictions on JCV/LA.

I thinks Local Unit Sg/My cannot shows JCV for other countries maps. LA can use.
Which country maps u want to put in your garmin device?
different garmin device have software. Example chinese software have chinese input keyboard.

The countries I visit/drive are China, Japan, India, USA & Thailand. It will be a pain in the neck to have so many units and keeping track of what it can display.

I believe Japan and USA can display. Thailand cannot as only Thai units can display their JCV. Thus it appears that for countries which have localised units, only their localised units can display JCV. Hence for countries that do not have this restriction, any capable Nuvi can display.

Thank you Guys for the info. The places with JCV I want are USA, Europe, Australia n New Zealand... maybe Canada too. These are great places for a leisure self drive holiday....

Thailand cannot as only Thai units can display their JCV.
Nuvi 255w local units with v2.80 software version can displays Thailand JCV
after v2.80 version cannot displays. If u have nuvi255w u can downgrade your software to v2.80.

From what I understand, the above countries should not have problem with US firmware.
Asia firmware is different. SG/MY JCV can only use local fw. I found out it crashed on my 1490 with US firmware.
