I do have the old 2010 version (with JCV) which was given to me by the vendor in Taiwan when I bought it. How he brick it I really don't know but it really works. The Garmin\map\Taiwan map & SDcard\map\Singapore map. I also have MFM maps in SDcard but my wife finds the JCV very useful.
Somehow I realized the Garmin internal memory is protected cos' even if I removed the maps in Garmin\map the map will still appear when I power up. I have copied in the latest MSM(.img & *.unl) maps into the \Garmin\map but it still won't work.
Thanks for the info anyway!
Cheers :-)
there is a map repository in .system folder of the unit
yes, it is called ".system" with the dot infront
it is a hidden folder away from unknown user
the map there is gmapprom.img or gmapprom1.img
i think the map you are seeing after removal is in there
MSM normal map can be placed in the SD:/Map folder
MSM-Garmin Official map (gmapprom.img need to be in the ".system" folder to work
my current 1450 setup is
.system/gmapprom.img + unl (MSM NT 2011.40)
.system/JCV/SgMyMal.jcv
SD:/Garmin/gmaapsupp.img + unl (MFM NT 2012.10)
SD:/Garmin/JCV/SgMyMFM.jcv
SD:/Garmin/Map/MFM 120416 (MFM cgsmapper map)
SD:/Garmin/Map/MSM v533 (MSM cgsmapper)
SD/Garmin/Map/JCV/product.jcv (MSM so-called JCV for normal map, small file)
