MapKing and Mysgfreemaps Potential Partnership

Postby Stanley Ng » Sun May 24, 2009 6:55 pm

Dear friends in MalFreeMaps,

I met some members two years ago in one of my early visits to KL.
And I am coming to KL this week and want to meet MFM members on Saturday (30 May) if possible.
I can invite you a drink and want to hear your comments and suggestions directly.

MapKing have been working with other free map portal and now we are looking for partnership with MalFreeMaps.

I browsed your conditions and your concern about commercial software using your map.
Commercial companies who want to use our data for their products or services are required to:
a) Include credits to malfreemaps.com in their product/service
b) Retain the data in its original form without any editing
c) Make a donation of at least RM1,000 to a legal charity organization in the name of malfreemaps.com and show us the receipt as proof - this condition is put on hold until the confirmation of our legal framework

For these conditions, I think MapKing can match them.
a) We can include credits to malfreemaps.com when we use your map.
b) We will not change your data and we will provide complier, and support to work it out. And when we work with Malsingmaps, we did not change their map data content.
c) for donation to charity in your name, it is fine and we have track record. http://www.mapking.com/eng/about/responsibility.html We prefer make some donation to Malaysia community locally. Please be free to suggest us charity name. We prefer to help lower income students, injured due to work, or minorities not easy to get support.

MapKing respect local input and local community, so we have direct companies in Malaysia and Singapore, we have a larger local staff team, we make map locally and we commit for software localization. Not many international GIS/ navigation software companies doing in this manner. And we have several local map projects in navigation and web map.

For our relationship with Papago. http://www.MapKing.com and http://www.papago.com.tw are two companies and MapKing and Papago are still partners, i.e. some MapKing products are partner product with Papago but not MapKing Virtual.

MapKing Virtual using our own engine and support junction view.

MapKing will launch actual 3D building navigation and other functions.

I need to have a contact for technical and a contact for contractual. So I can first send our draft contract before the meeting. Anthony have my direct email and contact number of MapKing Malaysia.

Hope I can meet up with some core members of your group. Hear you suggestions and comments in coming Saturday (30 May). Kindly let me know by return.

Regards.
