Hi all, I'll try contribute where and when I can. Hopefully we can have an accurate and comprehensive list of the cams so we can help each other avoid them. I'm from Penang and so far I only notice the mobile AES and not fixed AES cams. Mobile ones are at the usual speed trap areas so nothing new to add there.

If they put up valid warning signs for real black spots I don't mind slowing down and obeying the law. Prob is there are tons of those signs around and no cameras or dangerous spots to be seen. Some are even straight roads with 6 lane highways. That's ridiculous to impose this AES on us motorists. Speed is subjective, what might seem fast for a kancil and dangerous may seem very safe for a mercedes. Just 1kph over the limit also will get you netted already. AES should be there to monitor and convict those who are reckless and driving dangerously, harming others. Not for someone who just speed 1kph over the limit and at night or on an empty road thus being quite safe.

Ridiculous!

Actual warning sign for an AES red light camera in Ipoh. Under this new system, there should be a warning sign before each fixed location camera.

So, how to differentiate the new AES camera from an older non-AES one?

This is one older red light camera in Ipoh that is no longer operational.

The AES red light camera as featured in JPJ's FAQ. Compared to the older ones, the new cameras are larger and brighter in colour. The one in Ipoh also has a protruding arm for an accessory.
