Custom POI Download - Redlight Traffic Cams (v1.8)(120223)

Postby stratman2 » Sun Jan 04, 2009 9:30 pm

Minor updates to the MFM Redlight Camera cPOI. :)

Features:

- Updated Traffic Cam waypoint data (thanks to MFM contributors!)
- 56 red light camera POIs.
- Proximity distance reduced to 150m to shorten "nagging" duration.
- Custom icon reduced to 16x16 pixels.
- New alert tone
- Voice announcement for all Garmin Nuvi/Streetpilot/Zumo and compatible models.
- Voice-less version for GMXT and eTrex users.

Installation Procedure:

1. Download the zipped file and extract its contents to your computer.

2. Choose one of the GPI files. Nuvi 2xx users must install only the WAV version to have the voice announcement.. GMXT and eTrex users and those who prefer the default alert sound should use the GMXT file version.

3. Copy the desired GPI file into either your unit or memory card. The folder must be named "\Garmin\POI". If it doesn't exist in your SD card, create the folder manually.

4. Reboot your unit. If you had installed the GPI file into your SD card, your Nuvi will inform you that it has found new data. When prompted to copy the file into your device, tick "Don't Ask Me Again" and select "No". Your Nuvi doesn't need to have the GPI copied to your internal memory - it can read GPI files directly from the external card.

5. Ensure that your unit's alerts for Custom POIs are turned on and the audio settings set to "Continuous-All Alerts".

Kindly notify me of any errors, updates or omissions. :tq:

I had try to copy to GMXT, in Garmin\POI, i m using PDA phone..
what do u mean by cannot work properly with GMXT?
is it totally cannot use?

same goes to the speed trap and other custom poi u provided tat GMXT cannot work properly?

Good morning Bro wensan,

Someone informed me that the voice announcements don't work on his GMXT device, so I suppose it applies to all GMXT based units. You may be able to install the GPI files (they were all generated by Garmin's latest version of POI Loader) but whether you get the full functionality that they were intended for is another matter. At best you may get only visual alerts and that's about it. :prayer:

That said, the POI Loader 2.5.3 that I use is claimed by Garmin to support GMXT devices but I don't have one to test out. Your mileage may vary, so test them out and see if they work on your PDA phone. :)
cheers,

Stratman II

For GMXT, the proximity alert will only have the "DingDong" prompting and the red colored alert visual sign blinking, there will be no vocal prompting neither for both wav nor mp3 format file. As the software is no able to recognize the music file embedded with the waypoints.
Everyone contribute a bit, eventually we can enjoy and benefit more in our navigation.
