Custom POI: Singapore Pools and Authorised Retailers

Postby ad4rum » Fri Oct 08, 2010 10:28 pm

Info obtained from SingaporePools as of today.

Using Mapsource v6.16.2 created a total of 308 Waypoints and saved as .gpx
Using POI Loader to convert .gpx to .gpi

To use:
copy this .gpi to Garmin\POI directory
In my GarminXT, Where to? -> Extra -> Custom POIs -> SPAR (if no other .gpi, SPAR will be auto loaded)

Legends:
SP = Singapore Pools (Blue icon in GarminXT)
AR = Authorised Retailers (Red icon in GarminXT)

note: icon will only appear at 50m and 30m zoom level when not searching in Custom POIs.

AR-Jurong Eastjoined2.JPG

As you can see, there's a Phone icon when there isn't any phone number.
If anyone know what's the cause of it, do let me know.
Thanks!

As I don't know what's in the GPX, I'm guessing maybe it's the Hash/Number (#) sign that's causing it.

That .gpx is created using mapsource and the info are entered as followed:
waypoint.JPG

Do u mean the Hash/Number (#) sign in the Street field will caused the phone icon to appear?

I'm not sure, just guessing. Why don't you try creating a sample GPI with only 1 POI with the Hash sign removed?

you got it right!
it is the "#" which caused that phone icon to appear.
guess its a bug with Mapsource.

Thanks bro!

Found out that the phone icon error is not caused by Mapsource, instead its the POI Loader.
Replacing POI Loader with GPSBabel v1.4.1 solved the problem.

Settings are as such:
POI saved as Garmin GPS Database Version 3(*.gdb) in Mapsource
GPSBabel.JPG

New version updated in 1st post.

thanks.
After using GPSBabel v1.4.1, although it solved the phone icon issule but the POI icon didn't appear in GarminXT.

But everything is fine now. Using Extra_POI_Editor to call POI Loader in order to get the .gpi
Now, no Phone icon and POI icon are showing.

again 1st post POI updated.

Just to let you know that there is an option to "Use specified bitmap on output" in GPSBabel.
