Hi all,

I need some help here. I am a new user. New to this whole GPS thingy. I got a nuvi 42LM from NZ.
I had I stall the map using the map generator. When the software prompt if I want to save the map into the device I click yes. However I am not able to view the map after I turn the device on (I save in the the device "Garmim" folder). I can only view the map when I save the map in SD card.

Is there anyway where I can use the map without the SD card?

Thank you.

For Newbies, it is very dangerous to instal maps other than in SD cards.

The Nuvi 42 LM has a quirk - probably because it is the cheapest Nuvi available - from my experience, you can only have 1 map in your SD card. This is totally unsatisfactory as the SD card should offer you unlimited number of maps. I promptly advised those who bought 42LMs to throw them away and buy the 50 LM which behaves in a more predictable manner. I may have fallen into the Garmin trap.

If you choose to still hang on to your Nuvi 42, then be prepared to use only one map in your \Garmin folder in your SD card.
