I plan to make a separate Custom POI for toll plazas with SmartTAG lanes soon.

This is good. I like this.

Hmmm. :-k I did some research and it looks like almost all the toll plazas already have Smart TAG lanes, which means it's not practical to have a custom POI. Might as well do a custom POI for all toll plazas. ](*,)

It would be better to have a custom POI for toll booths not having a Smart TAG lane, but I can't find any information on the 'net.

A better idea would be a custom POI for R&R stops, so that you won't miss one if you need to have an "emergency" visit to the loo.

Hi stratman2,

You are rite, most of toll got Smart TAG lanes except exit to small town like Tapah. Just have custom POI for toll will do.

Hi Chee Loong,

After thinking about it, I'm not sure if a Custom POI for all toll plazas would be that useful. Motorists usually don't navigate to toll plazas - they go through them to get to their destinations. The other issue I've been mulling about is the ideal proximity alert distance. Too far - and if you happen to travel on a road alongside a toll plaza, the custom POI will still trigger within range (this doesn't make sense). Too near a distance - you can already see the toll plaza right in front of you. D-oh! :-#

IMO, the custom POI for TnG reload lanes would be far more useful, because you can't see the reload lanes until you're within reading distance of the designated lane sign boards. The alert will inform you to choose your lane carefully should you wish to reload your TnG card.

Hi stratman2,

I never think about it. You got your point, too far or too near didn't make sense. You might can have it this way, TnG reload lanes got voice prompt and sign, Smart tag, you might just put in sign only. For R&R, we can see it on signboard all along highway, just wonder it help or not?

Interesting. The way I look at it, you'll still have to slow down and pass the toll plazas when you reach them anyway. R&R areas are optional stops and the signboards are usually too small to notice, especially when you're blasting the highway on the right side of the lane at high speeds at night. If you miss one, you'll have to control your bodily functions until you reach the next R&R stop with a toilet. And that can be very inconvenient!

Toll plazas always have toilet and surau amenities (at least, for their staff) therefore if you have to go to the washroom, you'll stop at the toll plaza anyhow. People usually know where the next toll plaza is, but it's harder to remember the smaller RSAs and obscure lay-bys with toilets along the journey.

Anyway, if there are enough requests for a toll plaza custom POI, I'll do one for MFM later.

I'm not sure if it's worth doing a custom POI for petrol stations and shops offering TnG reloads. Heck, that could be thousands of places. Petrol stations and ATMs can easily be searched from your Garmin unit. Some gas stations already have ATMs and not all ATMs have TnG reload facilities. #-o

Sure, no problem, I could do one. \:D/

But it seems the same toll plazas that have reload facilities also sell TnG cards (according to the TnG website) therefore it would essentially be a duplication of effort.
