No, Dropbox will suspend your account's public sharing feature after detecting a huge spike in traffic. It has been tried before

If statistic of download is not too important, then probably Dropbox is a solution.

By putting the file in Dropbox and share it out, everybody will automatically get the latest version delivered to their PC. The number of users can be tracked as sharing has to be configured manually.

Alternatively, can put the file in "public" folder of Dropbox. This kind of public sharing is similar to what can be done with Megaupload, Rapidshare, etc. It could be another channel to the existing.

Dont mean to disrespect or anything, just that, since got pple unable to download, maybe there's a better way of doing it.

At least a change log. (but if every update, all *.img also got changes made to them, then, change log would be useless)

As for making a "updater" to update the core-program, doable?

anyway, its just a suggestion, again, no disrespect intended.

Just a thought, by right, when we do updates, we shouldn't be downloading the whole *.img, we just need the updated parts of it.

examples, say, for the whole week, this 60308888.img got no changes at all, then this 60308888.img should be excluded from the "update".
or
if there's only a very minor/small changes to this 60308888.img, then won't it be easier to download the "changes" only in order to make this 60308888.img an updated one?

At the download section, we'll have the Core program MFM at 65MB
every week, download an update(changes only) maybe the size of 5MB ?
Or even a change log, so user can decide if the download is necessary.

Becos for me, I don't drive out of sg, and I generate the gmapsupp.img (abt 10MB) using Mapsource with Singapore Map Data only.

It is a very good idea to download & update the img you needed only, but by this method, you are not able to search all the address in the img.

Change log? Mappers are busy with the map updating & need to take care of the rice bowl at the same time, how to keep track on the change log? Perhaps you want to assist on the change log compiling?
