Bro shawchyn, my two cents take on the scenario :

Some people cannot access File Server.

Not that they want to but they are by "circumstances" resort to click until they can download.

Maybe file server bandwidth is limited or we can look to other constructive solutions ? :tq:

Some of these file sharing services put a time out on file access ie.. 600 secs before they can download files :-k

Or put a message there to "inform" users NOT to "click click click" but to "wait wait wait " :-k

Or maybe you can suggest / implement some solutions :-'

Dropbox solutions is out of consideration for now, some members post some comment on the dropbox solutions will cause problem. So, for the meantime, dropbox solutions is out.

Fileden, I will look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Agreed with you. Not all Free File Share Server have the same "quality" speed for all members. To my understanding, no matter how good the servers or the bandwidth of the servers have, when all our members go there to download the map at the same or almost the same (rush hours), the traffic will be share affected. Then this cause everybody have to slow down.

For new download script, I had think of a more dramatic way. Will base on the user region and the previous know good speed servers and assign the link to them "permanently" or it will last for the next 48 hrs or so.

Once the link is assign, they will have to stick with the link for the next 48 hrs. No matter how many times to refresh the page, it will show you the same link.

This is to ensure other members will get a qualities download experience as well as to protect the bandwidth of others members contribute their server too.

But this solutions is still in development stage. Code wroted half way. haven;t got time to finish it.

in the 1st place, why would anyone wants to refresh the page IF they are able to get the intended download?

Also not much use if the office firewall has decided to block that server
