How to install Garmin MapSource for the First Time

Seems like Garmin has taken down the link for the older 6.13.7. If you cannot find the installer, you can use the latest one as well, only map redraw rate is not as quick as the older v6.13.7. GMapTool is a different application than Mapsource, usually ones uses GMapTool to complement Mapsource.

Hi, I unable to get mapsource version 6.13.7 (as recommended). Pls help to provide or I have to use latest version? or I can use gmaptool.exe ? I saw msg said that this tool is for advance mapper.

I think that one is just a patch to enable Mapsource v6.13.7 to transfer maps to any folder in PC.

Have you tried this method:

Extract Mapsource EXE installer using WinRar or similar utility. Then run *.MSI file (depending on version, either MAIN.MSI or MSMAIN.MSI, within the extracted files) to install, it'll skip the requirement to have previously installed Mapsource. If that still does not install (although runs with no errors), proceed with executing SETUP.EXE (ie. older Mapsource v6.13.7).

Next install MFM map

Hi there,
Am trying to install mapsource version 6137 when it ends the installation when no previous mapsouce detected. Fine, then followed the instruction to merge the registry and failed. Giving me the "cannot import the registry and error accesing the registry" Any problem with OS Vista?
What should I do? Am trying to get the Thailand and Australia map to load into my nuvi unit...

Any helps/ advices please...

You can try another method to bypass the requirement to have previously installed Mapsource: Extract Maspource installer and run "MAIN.MSI" first, and then "SETUP.EXE".
