How to install Garmin MapSource for the First Time

hi guys...got a prob here..
i'm using win 7 starter version and my mapsource cannot be opened..i tried run as admin oso cannot..then try regedit and import file oso cannot..
do u have anyu idea?before used win xp..

did you run the mapsourcefix.exe before install the mapsource ?

Try to follow this >>

just upgrade to windows 7 64 bit and have problem installing mapsource. this is what i do:

just extract mapsource (using 7zip) and run MAIN.msi.

mapsource will be install on the same drive on [drive]:\MapSource

the registry entry for InstallDir was created properly pointed to [drive]:\MapSource

shortcut in start menu will be created (point to correct files)

after installing MFM map, mapsource will open it and can use without any problems.

I do not have any vers of Mapsource app in my PC.
So i've downloaded the Mapsource 6.162 Vers.
It prompts out the msg that "PreviousMap source not found!, Setup will terminate."

You cannot download direct from Garmin site and run the installer. The version at Garmin Website is for ugrade only.

Did you follow instruction as per bro badrol ?

Hi Silver Beauty,
1) I cant find who is Badrol in Forum.
2) In the viewtopic.php?p=11010#p11010, there are total 17pages. i cant get any link that can download the mapSource Vers 1.0 or Main Software.
3) I can get where is the latest map for Garmin Nuvi 710

Sry to repeat again, can u pls guide me more?

I've finished installing the MFM-Garmin 100809
like pictures below:





I cannot open up the MFM Prg.
1) No Icon to access the prg.
2) In the directory, C:garmin (only have "Malfreemaps" Folder and 'gmapsupp" to burn into a disc.

Wat should i do? i really stuck here...pls help

You did not download the right files nor are you doing the right stuff.
Lets start from the beginning. Follow the instructions closely.

If you had / or have previous installations of Mapsource that do not work or have problems, please do a COMPLETE uninstall inclusive of REGISTRY removal else the problem will continue to haunt you.

Download Mapsource Recommended Old version 6.13.7 via below link

After download, run the install file. This will install Mapsource into your computer

After the installer is done, do not run mapsource as there are no maps and it will report an error if you do so

Download MFM from this link
http://www.1gps.com.my/download/garmin.aspx

After download, run the install file. This will install MFM into Mapsource of your computer

Run Mapsource. The MFM map should appear

If you want to go to Garmin website and download the latest Mapsource update file
After download, run the install file. This will install the latest version of Mapsource into your computer

It prompts out error msg as below:





I cannot run the Installation File.
Even the 1st step i cannot make. Anything that i've done wrong here?
