Mapsource is not necessary. Not sure why it did not transfer to device, but I myself always opted for no, and just manually copy and paste saved GMAPSUPP.IMG (from C:\Garmin\Malfreemaps, if default drive/folder is used when installing) to \Garmin folder of Nuvi. If there is currently the same file in Nuvi, (do not replace) back it up first.

Hi Dvpro,
I just follow the installation for every update and install directly into the Nuvi. It is correct? Your installation is sligthly different. Pls advice.

Another question - hope yu do not mind....

I lost my POI voice after installing V2.03. Try several time removing the 9 files and reinstall again but no luck :frus: :frus: Any advice is highly appreciated.

Thanks a million. :tq: :tq:

If you had opted to transfer GMAPSUPP.IMG to device and the file is in fact transfered (and do verify at Map Info that it is so), no need to copy and paste manually.

Which Garmin device are you using? If Nuvi2xx series, choose the one with WAV; if MP3 capable Nuvi such as Nuvi7xx series, choose the MP3 version. Also ensure Custom POI alerts settings is set correctly.

Thanks DVpro. I just let the software do the transfer and the MFM map V1.70 could be seen in the Nuvi 255W. I click on custom POI and Full - installation. Everything is OK. :tq: :tq:

I am using 255W and follow the instruction provided. Using Wav file. Upon installation, everything is perfect and all the 9 files is OK. When switch on, the transfer was done from SD to the Nuvi. Upon checking the Nuvi, everything is exactly similar to the page in the forum but while using it - no ding dong, voice and the alert icon!..... ](*,) ](*,)

Thanks for your kind reply soon. :tq: :tq:

Can you pls verify at Tools > Settings > Proximity Points > Proximity Alert, it is either turned On or Custom POIs is ticked.

Also, check in Nuvi that such Custom POIs exists, by searching via Where to? > Extras.

Thanks Dvpro.

The Custom POIs is ticked. Should I unticked it?

Upon checking the Custom POIs at "where to" - Extra > all the point exist on the screen.

Pls advice. Thanks Bro. :tq: :tq:

Looks like your Nuvi is already set to alert with installed Custom POIs. When you say, no alert at all, are you certain that the area you passed is marked with proximity alert information? If it's a speed limit alert, if your speed is way too low below the limit, the alert would not have triggered.

Is the map file (ie. GMAPSUPP.IMG) copy and pasted in \Garmin folder (not at root directory)?
Check at Tools > Settings > Map > Map Info, is Malfreemaps listed here, and is it ticked?
Where is your location? Have you got a GPS fix within the maps boundary?
Have you zoomed in further until the map is viewable?

So the proximity alert is working, only no sound. I'd suggest you to reinstall with option for GMXT, at least when there is no audio embedded, you would get the beep sound.
