How to install Garmin MapSource for the First Time

I've install garmin map source as follow the instruction but it is not running.
After installation, I try to run the map source program and I get an error message "MapSource could not find any installed MapSource map products.
Please install one or more MapSource Map products and start MapSource again."
Please help. Thank you.

please download and install the latest MFM maps. After that you should be able to use mapsource. download the maps from here:- viewtopic.php?f=23&t=893

Also try to follow the instructions here:- viewtopic.php?f=28&t=735. If that doesn't work, go through the forum on How to Install Mapsource (all 13 pages, I think the problem have been highlighted a few times already). If the solution is not anywhere, then re-post here again with more details (ideally sequence of what you did, what error message, etc. This way sifus can help you better)

I'm having the same problem as below.... i have downloaded latest mfm map but still cannot.... i installed the mfm map into C drive local folder... or should I install it into Mapsource folder or garmin folder???? very confusing....

i've download the registry mapsource file and do whait i have to do.. and i,ve install mapsource 6137, and when its done and lauching.. this dialog box appear "mapsource could not find any installed mapsource map products" "please installl one or more mapsource map products and start mapsource again" which steps that i missed? somebody help plz

Bro mikelim, your are free to change the default install folder. For example, I store all maps in the Garmin folder in my C:/garmin directory for easier reference.

Thought of helping others here with a simple pictorial guide on installing maps into mapsource. Please keep in mind this is a perfect scenario where nothing goes wrong.

Senior bros / sifus, appreciate if you could correct any wrong information here.

PART ONE

1. Download latest MFM maps from here. Please take note new maps is up-loaded every Monday, file naming convention is yymmdd.exe. remeber where you have downloaded the file to.

2. Go to the directory where the file is saved. run the exe file by clicking on "RUN"

4. Welcome screen, click "NEXT"

5. Accept the agreement

6. select destination location. you can accept th default or choose any thing you like. here i save using the file naming convention for easier reference.

7. since we are installing for use with mapsource, choose the mapsource option and click next

7. Click install

8. you will see a progrss window

9. if install properly, the installation will finish and the window will close and follow by a new window that will then ask you if you want to create a gmapsupp.img. normally, i will click "NO" since I am using mapsource.

10. after you click "NO" at the create gmapsupp.img windows, the installation is completed and you get this window. Exit by clicking "FINISH"

12. if there are no problems with the installation you should be able to see the mapsets.
