How Many Maps Can I add within your Nuvi

Old Series Garmin Nuvi 200,300, 600, 700 series
Internal memory (the device itself)
At Nuvi Drive x:/Garmin/

gmapprom.img = the primary maps set
gmapprom1.img = the secondary maps set
gmapsupp.img = the supplemental mapset
gmapoem.img = the OEM mapset that cannot be unselect by user (if it exist)

SD or microSD card at external memory card x:/garmin/
gmapsupp.img = the supplemental mapset

New Series Garmin Nuvi 13xx, 14xx, 2xxx,3xxx series
No limit to the number of map files. Whatever names u can put. Exp : mfm.img

Internal memory & external memory (prefer save all maps at external memory card for safety)
Nuvi Drive x:/MAP/
External memory card x:/MAP/

(if not have Map folder, u can create yourself)

extra info for new series local device.
The local nuvi device come with dual maps
1) Malsingmaps NT = gmapprom1.img
2) Garmin City Navigator NT = gmapprom.img

old nuvi series is save at nuvi drive x:/Garmin/
new nuvi series is save at nuvi drive x/.System/

remember don't put 2 same maps at nuvi device. This maybe will cause your nuvi device cannot bootup. Better put the maps at external memory card. If cannot boot your nuvi device u just remove your memory card.
Exp : put 2 mfm maps at nuvi device

PUT JCV files at Memory Card
if u want to put the JCV at your memory card the file name should be like below:-
The maps files also should put at the memory card.

For New Model Nuvi 1xxx,2xxx,
The Map files must be in SD:\MAP\*anyfilename*.img and the JCVs in SD:\Garmin\JCV\*anyfilename*.JCV
(original jcv file is put at nuvi drive x:/.System/JCV/)

For Old Model Nuvi 2x5w and other
The map files must be in SD:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img and the JCV in SD:\Garmin\JCV\gmapsupp.JCV
(original jcv file is put at nuvi drive x:/Garmin/JCV/)
