MFM Old Version Installation Guide MFMvXXX

1. Install Garmin Mapsource
--- Mapsource is a very useful program to view and upload maps into your Garmin device
--- Read How to install Garmin Mapsource
--- Mapsource can be downloaded from Garmin website
--- Use Garmin Mapsource 6.13.7 if the latest Mapsource is too slow for your PC


2. Download the latest MFM map Here Look for the latest Map .

3. Step by Step Install MFM Map

a. Double click MFMvxxx
b. Next


c.Accept the agreement


d. Recommended to use the default folder for MFM map


e. Map display in Mapsource
---1. full customistion (recommend for Mapsource Display) ----- for you view custom icon and road display in Mapsource
---2. Original Roads ----- displays only custom icon in Mapsource


f. Ready To Install MFM Map.


g. Installation in progress...

h. Create MFM gmapsupp.img (for u Garmin Nuvi, Garmin Mobile XT & Garmin Que [Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone])


i. Options (for display & Model U have)
---1. For Garmin Que
---2. for Nuvi & Mobile XT
----i. Road POI ( you search road name under Points of Interest. This option may slow down your Mobile XT)
----ii. Custom POI only ( Dispaly custom POI Icon (Shell station will display in Shell Logo)
----iii. Full ( Full Custom [the road display a bit different] + Custom Icon)

----iV. Garmin Que & None (only display default Icon & Road)


j. Proceed to generate gmapsupp.img with above Options (Yes or No)


k. MFM gmapsupp.img has been created. (Do u want to send this map to U unit/SD Card)


---If Yes, please select your Nuvi drive {"F:" or "G:"}. Map must save within the "Garmin" folder. For example, "F:\Garmin"
---It takes a while to transfer your map into your Nuvi or SD card. Please wait until the "Process Completed" message is displayed before disconnecting your Nuvi or removing your SD card to avoid damage to your Nuvi or SD card.


---now gmapsupp.img is created
----(this is the maps file, there a backup copy at "C:\Garmin\Malfreemaps"
----u also can copy this file to others unit/SD Card


l. Ok! U R done (On unit and try) Be Happy

Note MFM 1.50 and later :
If you are using Mapsource to transfer MFM Maps to your GPS unit, don't select 2 Topo Map if you have not installed MFM-SRTM v1.02. Otherwise, your transfer will not be successful.

hi,
this is my 1st posting.I really need ur help guys...

i just bought nuvi 765sg/my from aeco.it's included ori malsing and city navigator plus MFM map. I already update all necessary update at garmin sg website.

today i already dwload MFM1.67 and Mapsource software. so many confused...

1. can i just copy gmapsupp.img and paste in garmin golder?when i do that the map look funny, the road look only thin line not nice as ori MFM map in my nuvi.When i tick both MSM map and MFM map, it shows nothing like no map

2.Or i need to use mapsource to send the files to my garmin? is it just simple click send in the file menu or need to select anything?

3. i noticed that ori MFM in my nuvi hv someting like gmaptool. When i copy and paste the gmapsupp.img and replace the ori gmapsupp.img, dont see gmaptool when i check in map info.WHat is gmaptool and how to use/make it?

sorry for noobs question. hope u guys can help me

The above is the correct way to install MFM in Nuvi. However, when generating GMAPSUPP.IMG with the installer, try using "Custom POI only" at "Map Display Customization". As for enabling both MSM NT and MFM maps in Nuvi, MSM NT will have higher priority over MSM, and if that particular area is not covered by MSM NT map, hence you will see no roads. And if you have enabled City Navigator too, then it will overlap other maps, and in most places, City Navigator map is less detailed than the rest.

As for now, just use the above method.

GMapTool you're referring to is just the map's name, nothing to worry about.

hi there.just tried installing the latest map.just a few questions to ask.

1)Do i need to disable the default maps in my 205w?
2)when i try to use msian map,is there a way for me to just enter a landmark?(eg jusco tebrau)coz it keeps prompting house no. first and road name only.

Can't wait to contribute makan places and many interesting POI here.

It's a good idea to disable any other map other than MFM (or any map) that you're currently using.

The search above is performed via Where to? > Address, ie. used when searching for street names. As for Points of Interest (POIs), use Where to? > POIs > Spell Name.

Im not able to view MFM with Asus P535, WM5.0, Garmine Que with GPSPROXY. No map was listed when checking the Map Setup> Detail map. I've waited to get a fix and still the same result. When accessing POI, it prompted " Detailed maps are required to use this feature....." Prior to MFM, Im using MSM with no problem. Any setup I need to look at?

I've generated img choosing Que option. I've also tried to upload the map using mapsoure but it gave the same result too. What could be wrong? I dun have any problem installing the MFM map to NUVI 765 though. Btw, the MFM is fast with NUVI, in re-routing and so forth

Regret to inform that from v1.63 onwards, MFM are using NT format, not readable in older Garmin software/harware including Garmin Que.
