Missing Right turn from Telok Blangah Road into Alexandra Rd

At N1 16.356 E103 48.133.

Instead of turning right, MalFreeMap 100830 advices me to continue & do a U-turn along Telok Blangah!

I attach 2 screenshot from my old nuvi 370:

This defect has been there since day 1 when I started using MSM/MFM maps!

Based on the screenshots, you are on Keppel Way, can your car jump from there to Alexandra Road?

Perhaps the GPS reception is no good under the bridge... causing your device thought you are on the upper level.

OK, I will check but I think that is not so because it asks me to do a U-turn after some distance. Don't think it can do a U-turn on the Keppel Way.

It is possible that my old nuvi 370 is not sensitive enough.
I will also test with the newer 1250 next week.

Right now, I am in KL after completing my driving tour to Krabi/Aonang....

I just did a few checks on Mon & Tue.
Both cases, my nuvi 370 shows me as being on the upper viaduct.
This morning, I even moved my car to the left-most turning lane (middle of 5 lanes in the lower road) instead of my usual rightmost lane. Still no joy!

I also used a 1250 (but it was not running MalFreeMap) which shows the car halfway between the upper & lower road.

Since it is so consistent, I tend to suspect the map rather than my GPS.
Tomorrow (if I remember), I will do a Where Am I capture instead & then check with GoogleEarth/Map.

BTW, if there is a problem with the map, I can't be the only one having this problem?

I went for lunch at VivoCity and took the opportunity to take some coordinates.
While waiting for the turn signal (rightmost lane), I took 2 Current Location readings and here they are:
103.802323,1.272370,First Location,
103.802311,1.272381,Second Location,

Without resizing, you can barely see the 2 yellow waypoints.

Below is an enlargement:

Though the 2 location do fluctuate. they are obviously NOT on the viaduct!

In addition, I did a quick picture snap for this morning 3rd lane waiting to show exactly where I was. You can see the GPS in the lower right corner.

pal, gps is eye in the sky.

they have a certain degree (distance) of accuracy.

so when u are actually under or near or even along the slip road of a flyover, it takes a while for gps to detect your actual location.

u should try and see. gps device will show same direction, irregardless u are on the flyover or on keppel road ( under flyover) itself when u are actually under it.

i experienced once on KL h'way when there's so many exits and roundabouts, sometimes can be rather confusing, but as long as u take the right exit as instructed, u are quite safe

I plotted those 2 GPS positions on MalFreeMaps in Mapsource & got the following:


It obviously shows both points to be south of the viaduct & road below.
What I cannot understand is why it snapped to the viaduct instead of the road.

Another observation this morning.
As I was coming down the ramp, exiting the viaduct, the GPS was fine until about 50-100m from the lower road. Then it suddenly snapped back to the viaduct & changed the routing.

Question: Could the fact that the map itself is a bit off and the GPS somehow decided to site in on the wrong road? Would moving the lower road south 20+/-10m help?

Bear in mind this is a temporary (more than 1 year already) diversion.... Of the road, I mean.

With the new 100920 map version, I have been getting the correct routing and positions on my 370 since last Thursday & Friday.
