Even the Thailand map doesn't appear in the map switch. As my R6600 comes with TMC, I'd like to use SLA map. Anyway to fix it or I need to wait for the X9 version of SLA map to be out?

M3gps, any update on my question? I need postal code search feature of SLA map also. Thanks.

Hi weewee,

I think I might missed out your question.

Since you have updated your R6600 and I will assume you are using WebUpdater 2.0.1.

1) Start WebUpdater and login
2) Go to "Update Map"
3) Select "SLA" and click on "UPDATE"
4) The download may take awhile
5) After finished downloading, unplug the USB cable and R6600 will auto restart
6) Switch to SLA, it should be ok.

Please update me on this if shall you facing any issue on the above process.

Thank you.

Hi, I've tried the Update Map and this is the message I have:

Image

Seems like the SLA map is already the most updated but I still can't see SLA map in map switch.

M9 on Galaxy Note comparison against X8.5 on PND (Portable Navigation Device)

On the subject of M9's "Road Search" function :

The M9 does not have the feature to input the Door Number, hence it can only take you to the road, but not the door step of your destination.

The X8.5 on PND has the Door Number function which will ask you to input the door / house number at the last part of the Road Search feature before you press the Go button, hence it guides you right to the door step of your destination.

My experience with the M9 is when I wanted to go to No. 150, Jalan Ampang, K.L., the Road Search function does not ask to input the Door Number. So, I selected only Jalan Ampang from the matching list. It took me to Jalan Ampang alright. The problem here is I've to slowly cruise along the main road of Jalan Ampang looking through my car windows to visually look for the door / house No. 150 with the vehicles at my back honking at me full blast for the tortoise drive. From the start of Jalan Ampang to end of Jalan Ampang is 5 kilometers !

Conclusion :
The M9 cannot take you right to the door step of your destination. It can only take you to the road of your destination. You will still need to find the door or house number yourself with the vehicles behind you honking at full blast while your eyes slowly scour the door or house number as you cruise along the road.

Funny part of the map "MFM-PPG-X8.5-X9-120503" on M9 :
When the Search feature returned the match of "Jalan 24/38A Segambut", I pressed this match, but it points to "Jalan 1/38A Segambut" before the Go button. Between "Jalan 24/38A and Jalan 1/38A", there are 23 rows of terrace link houses apart !

So, back to using the X8.5 on the PND.

hi..i'm newbie here in using papago x5, previous using garmin mxt. just install mfm-ppg-111004c to my garmin asus A50 (android 2.1).

1) how i want to uninstall the standard map (100415), only delete folder 'MALAYSIA' in 'MAPS' folder or how? now i just untick that map only.

2) this process (uninstall/delete map 100415) will effect the junction view? or mfm-ppg-111004c already built-in with junction view?

3) latest map update for papago X5-X7 is mfm-ppg-111004c & already discontinued, any alternative to update papago map for android 2.1(papago x5)? its possible to install papago x8.5 in android 2.1 cause that map still up to date.

1) Yes. Just delete the folder 'MALAYSIA' in the MAPS folder if your 100415 maps is name as 'MALAYSIA'

2) No. It will not effect the junction view if you delete the map but you must have atleast a map in the maps folder else papago won't run if there is no maps in the maps folder.

3) Get papago M9 for android from M3gps.

Hope it helps.

I read in the M9 brochure that screen resolution 1280x720 is not covered. As several smartphones are already on this resolution, will Papago be providing a M9 patch to include 1280x720 soon?
