This was a 10 day tour package that I sign up for a total cost of S$4800 nett ( excluding tips .. additional Y20 per pax per day ) for 3 pax ( 2 adult and 1 child ), all meals, 4-star min class hotels for 5 days land tour + 5 days cruise down Yangtze River. This is to be our maiden start to be captivated by exotic Chinese architecture, ancient sites and picturesque landscapes.

On the positive side, I really enjoyed China 's elegant sightseeing and landscapes, the beautiful mountain parks and rivers in its large, expansive territory

We dreaded the first 5 days of scenic attractions of the tour. Everyday we had to switch hotels due to the distance between scheduled scenic locations. Zhangjiajie National Park which we spent a majority of time there is almost 400km in size. There is a lot of hiking / climbing stairs had capricious climates and exhilarating scenery and was a test of your fitness :ko:
The end 5 days river cruise abroad the luxurious cruise ship was a welcome way to recover from it

For a package tour, I would rate the quality of the food above average for lunch and dinner based on restaurants we went to. Every lunch and dinner we were served 9 course meals with complementary soft drink + beer per table.
Breakfast quality was disappointing as mostly dependent on quality of hotel and some were village / country joints thus could not expect much quality stuff.

The only negative side of the tour was the intermittent "commercial" breaks as what I called it. The tour guide will schedule stops to visit commercial establishments like silk garments, tea leafs, kitchen knifes, Chinese medicines, Chinese Paintings ... but then this is to be expected as with tours to other parts of the world. You really have to have a high tolerance to their persistent sales talk to "not" buy ... :ko:

On an end note, I love the fly - land tour - cruise way to see Eastern China and am planning next destination.

Below is website where I got the idea for this sort of vacation. Move your mouse over the categories of "View Itineraries of Scenic Tours of Asia" to see the tour path.
