Anyway, hope you could try Sungai Sedim Waterfall (N5 24.789 E100 46.837). Just got back from there for white water rafting. Water level a bit low due to dry season.

:tq: :good: :rox:

Hi Sandmanz,

The White Water Rafting was so exciting.
I would like to try it too. May I have the raft guide contact number?

thanks ya.

25. Giam Klimau

location : Batu Niah, Sarawak.
coordinate : N3.72318 E113.92725
profile : river waterrfall, curtain fall
elevation : 43m
access : 4wd, light trekking.
water source : sungai tema
distance : +/-16.1km from main road.
pool / campsite : pool is found in front of the fall. no campsite found around.
guide : recommended, hiding deep inside oil palm plantation. (En. Selan 6019 - 8685 341)

Who said there's no waterfall around Batu Niah. Tourists are heard about the famous Niah Cave but not the falls. There are several falls are hidding in the remote area of oil palm plantation. In Bidayuh, 'giam' means waterfall.

Thanks to Mr. Kamal (PIC Lambir Hills NP) and Mr. Selan, that we have a chance to visit Giam Klimau during our last June Miri trip.

We met Mr. Selan at Batu Niah in the early morning. After simple self-intro, we started the journey by Mr. Selan 4WD. Drove deep into oil palm plantation, bumpy terrain, passed thru several security gate. Finally, we reached the trailhead.

Trekked thru the bushes. Scratched my legs here n there, damn itchy after that.
Image

After scrambling down the slope, here the Giam Klimau in front of our eyes. Our guides already busy picking snails for thier dinner when we are ready with camera and gears.
Image

From near.
Image

Image

The side fall. Locals are love to pick the 'siput' (snail) here. "Honey, we have extra dishes tonight!'
Image

I was amazed by the unique landscape. Normally the falls we visit at Pen. Malaysia are more to slide form. For Giam Klimau is totally different, the water just dropped on the hard rock surface, and the pool is several meters away. A 'cave' is behind the fall, let us feel we're in the "shui lian dong" (water curtain cave) hahaha...

Can have a nice shower here.

The Lambir Hills National Park was gazetted and published to public on 15 May 1975. Located along the Miri-Bintulu Road, some 30km south of Miri Town. The park covers an area of about 6,952 hectares which consists of the central portion of the Lambir Hills, a rugged east-west trending sandstone escarpment with a maximum height of 465 metres.

There are a series of waterfalls in the park. Less than 1km from the Park Office following the waterfall are called first, second and Latak waterfall. Other accessible falls are the Pantu and Nibong Waterfall along the pantu Trail and the Pancur, Tengkorong and Dinding Waterfall along the Bakam Trail.

The trail system in the park are clearly marked with different colours. The four primary trails, are Main, Pantu, Lepoh-Ridan and Bakam. The seven secondary trails are Latak, Nibong, Bukit Pantu, Pantu Waterfall, summit, Tengkorong and Pancur. Dinding Trail is the only tertiary trail in the Park. Trails are constructed for visitors to explore the forests, hills, valleys and waterfalls. No guide is required to visit all the tourist spots, you won't get lost if you just stick to the designated trails. However, the Summit Trail which leads to the Lambir's Summit, does require a guide and is excellent for adventurous hikers.

26 - Part 1 : Latak waterfall series

coordinate : N4.20395 E114.04281
profile : stream waterrfall, vertical fall
elevation : 98m
height : 25m
fee : park entrance RM10.00/pax

Just need about 30 mins light trekking. Suit for day tripper and family outing.

27 - Part 2 : Nibong Waterfall

coordinate : N4.20427 E114.03391
profile : stream waterrfall, vertical fall
elevation : 125m
access : 1 hour 50 mins jungle trekking.
distance : +/-2km from park office.
fee : park entrance RM10.00/pax

Take the Pantu trail.
Image

Climb up the longest staircase in the park. Became very slippery after rain plus the algae on it.
Image

The tree tower. but recently is closed to public, due to safety issue.
Image

We saw a lot of giant trees along the way.
Image

Image

The terrain of Pantu Trail is gradually up and down, a little bit tougher than the trail to Latak Waterfall. Finally reach the fall after climb down a slope.
Image

Equipted with lifebuoy for emergency.
Image

Image

Quite a small vertical fall if compare with Latak Waterfall.
