We were there for 4hrs yesterday -- got at least 10 eruptions.

Yup, since 1883 after 'mother' Krakatau "biggest blasting volcanic eruptions in the world history" then the volcano collapse, after that Anak Krakatau born and grow 20 feet per year.. now anak krakatau was 230 meter high.

actually the Krakatau Blasting eruption in 1883 is very very very big bang, the tsunami caused by the blast was more bigger than aceh tsunami couple years ago.
In history record of tsusami's krakatau blasting make big waves reach to the the florida's beach America..! it's tsunami wave going to whole word.. in the past maybe Sumatra & Java island still united before blasting..

Eruption at 10.40am on 20.01.11. The first one as we entered the Krakatau archipelago after a harrowing 2.5hr boat ride in rough 1.5m swells, from Carita in Banten province, west coast of Java. I was a bit anxious for a moment there, because we were less than 1km from the island-volcano, but going at full speed.

From the safety of Pulau Sertung, just 2km away, I observed my second eruption since we arrived. Spectacular, yet disturbing.
