there is a shop that sells strawberries cake, strawberry chocolates and a lot more.. in brinchang next to pasar malam. not bad.. the chocolates is GOOD..

if ur going with a group of friends, why not rent an apartment? its cheaper than hotel and u can steamboat KAO KAO.. go pasar malam buy all the sayur u want to eat and steamboat urself..

tip: bring ur own fish, prawns. dont buy there. not so fresh and expensive.jst buy their sayur..

Do braze for the massive traffic jams especially during dining hour (lunch & dinner). From Eq to Brinchang town 1-2 hours... .... No Parking....

- Mosey Forest .... the drive there is eerily but the view in the forest is worth the trip.
- Sun rise at the Eq hotel view point.

Be more careful when u plan to buy d veges or fruits there..cox d cameron ppl are clever to "cut veges head" now days. And aware of CRISPY FRIED FOOD from hawkers! Here is d story:-

Banana Fritters Fried in Plastic!

This is a TRUE STORY ...and also Saw Loon told me
it happended to her place in Kedah ..tunjang..I think..

It happened in PERLIS (titi chai kangar..the pasar malam
area where GORENG PISANG are sold in the afternoon)

Mom said, my uncle saw the GORENG PISANG hawker
added plastic straw (for drinking water) into hot oil (and it
melted) before he fried the GORENG PISANG, that is why
GORENG PISANG, UBI, etc. all are very crispy for hours....

And, my uncle asked the hawker and he kept quiet..and when
my uncle told my mom, they realized that this is how fried
fritters are crispy for a while.. my mom said that in Thailand
they do the same to keep the fried food crispy eg:
ikan bilis, fried onions, which if u leave them in the open
air for hours, still crispy..

Please forward to all your friends.. DO NOT EAT CRISPY
FRIED FOOD from hawkers!

Try leaving it in the open air for hours and see..

Here's another one:

I was with my family Cameron Highlands. It was 3 pm and we
were hanging around a market area. We saw many hawker
stalls, suddenly something attracted my attention....at one
of the stalls, there was a big wok of boiling oil with a
half-5-litre empty oil bottle in it. The plastic bottle
melted slowly in the hot oil. At first I thought it was an
unintentional act by a 7-yr-old girl ....but when I looked
closely, I saw she was holding a pair of chopsticks and
stirring the bottle.. it appears the act was intentional...
oh my God ... these people are using melted plastic
to fry food...so that the tit bits will not go soft when
it's cooled due to plastic.

Personally I prefer to stay at Heritage Hotel at Tanah Rata. The town is just a walk down the hill and access to the food without the need to go through the traffic jams. The road from Tanah Rata to Brinchang is bad during peak holiday season.

If you want an adventure, go on one of those local tours that takes you offroad on a land-rover 'defender' and hike to see the Rafflesia Kerrii (pronounced Kerry-eye). Visit the boh-tea centre at Sg Palas or the older one at Habu. Nothing like having a cup of tea in the highlands.

Anyone tried the Bentong->Raub->Sg Koyan route to Cameron Highlands? According to GPS the distance from Petaling Jaya is the same as Simpang Pulai.

i think also depend on which part of Cameron u plan to go. seem like not a good idea if going to Kg Raja by that route.

One day Dec2011, Drove KL-Fransers Hill-Raub-Cameron Highlands via the newish road. Nice drive, good roads all the way. Follow GPS (of course la) bcos there's an intersection where one hv to turn left, but without signboard. IIRC, reached Tanah Rata.

Dont forget Ratha's curry fish head in Raub. Nice lamb chops too
