Bakuteh in Bangsar?

Postby singcbl » Wed Dec 09, 2009 9:36 am

Driving down to KL next week for a day of shopping with my spouse in Bangsar locality (Mid Valley to be precise). Appreciate any tips on good Bakuteh stall/restaurant that I can visit for lunch.
Thanks a million in advance.

Bro singcbl,

The debate about good bak kut teh will go on for as long as humans eat meat. I am sure Bro Sharkteef will be offended if I say that the one in PJ Old Town that he recommends is so-so only and I only go there when I need my BKT fix and too lazy to drive into KL. :peace:

To answer your question, there is no BKT in Bangsar. The closest you will find will probably be along Old Klang Road and the half-decent one there is next to Ambank Okr in the gps.

My favourite BKT is Ah Sang. But as I said, it may not be to your taste/style.

Good luck. =P~

Thanks guys for your suggestions. My personal preference is for the more peppery taste kind but I am sport for any type of good bakuteh. I have a friend whom I used to ask to buy for my friends and I over here in Singapore pre-packed bukuteh ready-to-use ingredient that we felt is one of the best over here in Singapore or West Malaysia. Unfortunately this friend of mine has migrated to NZ with his family and there goes my only source of good old bakuteh. Anybody knows of such pre-pack bakuteh ingredients that are being sold by such stall? It will be a great help to know some of them.

Uncle Wong,
I am not too such which brand or stall my friend got the stuff from as there no label on the packing. I will try to contact my friend to find out. In the meantime as many suggestions as possible are very much welcome.

Many supermarkets sell those branded BKT seasoning.

Search for Yi Xin Ge Bak Kut Teh in your gpsr. It is in Kelana Jaya area. I know they pack their own herbs and spices. This place has a very light soup so you can add your own pepper and garlic to taste. =P~
