Any recommendations for a trip to Melaka?

Postby 255w » Fri Dec 11, 2009 12:40 pm

I'm planning a trip to Melaka coming this Christmas with my wife and we're looking for a few suggestions of what to do, where to go, where to eat etc.

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

GPS coordinates are most welcome

One of my friends also had a bad experience, water was rusty color ..... better off to stay at Holiday Inn or Equatorial.

My favorite hotel in Melaka is HolidayInn, get the straits view room and with the full length glass, you will have a great view, you can just while away your day in your room.
Coordinates: N2 11.250 E102 14.880

My favorite restaurant is just across the road within walking distance. It is Wok & Pan next to Mahkota Parade. Here's more info:

It is a western & perankan food place. You get great steaks, pork chop, fishhead curry, etc.
Coordinates: N2 11.372 E102 14.817

Enjoy your holidays.

My experience with most mid range Malaysian hotels is that they begin with a bang....facilities, service but the standard drops as the years go by.

Go with a moderate expectation. If things don't turn up the way it should be, at least, your holiday is not spoil. Keep your cool in dealing with the staff. Generally, i think many of the complains that you may have are beyond their control. They are not in a position to solve it. Most of the time you will be ](*,) ](*,)

So it you want quality service and facilities you will have to pay for it :$gone:

have a good holiday :)

Bro bayley, I do not disagree with you on your comments to lower our expectations. However when a hotel markets itself as in luxury class with luxury prices, surely a minimum standard fit for that class is not an unreasonable expectation :-? The comments as in link posted by bro 255W are not acceptable ... rude and unhelpful staff from a luxury class hotel ...

We called up Mahkota hotel to make some enquiry. Surprisingly, they sounds very polite and responsive :-'

We are looking at 2 rooms for 4 persons, the rates looks reasonable http://www.mahkotahotel.com.my/index.php/accomodation. But the bad comments are a real turn-off ](*,)

Someone recommended Avillion Legacy Melaka, but when we called up, the staffs are not so polite :-'

What bro silverbeauty said is true, for a 4 stars hotel (as what Mahkota proclaim), we expect 4 stars service… But saidly, as what bro Bayley said, the more expectation you have, the greater the disappointment.

Thank you bro tkew for the coordinates and bro dvpro for the links :)

Thanks again for all for the valuable advices… Appreciate it \:D/
