Pulau Gemia

Postby Buzz » Sat Apr 24, 2010 10:40 pm

Hello Folks,

i am planning a June trip to Pulau Gemia in June.

My plan is to leave SG Midnight and head to Marang via NSE and then Karak. A bit worried about driving trunk roads during night time so the road that i choose will be longer but safer IMHO.

Question
How's the parking like at Marang, sheltered? Security?

After that on the way South i plan to stop by Chemerung waterfall and spend a night in Sungai Lembing and the Rainbow falls.

Since it's a holiday i don't want to rush back South, but also want to skip the usual places like KL or Malacca. Can anyone suggest a rustic place to stop by on the way South?

Cheers

Welcome to Terengganu
yup midnight is best for traveling so
1. your concentration more fully to the road.. you can consider before
other car coming from the corner ahead cause knew of the their light.
2. better for your engine, more cooler engine at night.
3. Quieter streets and more safer concentration on the street.

better - from JB to Marang more closer if you follow directions through Kota tinggi, Mersing, Nenasi, Kuantan, Cherating to Marang but there is no Tol way there, but the road is wide enough and Ok. I've always through there if want to go JB from Dungun. Considered its touring.. that road more challenging but safe
More faster and saving time and money follow that path compared via NSE to Kuala Lumpur and Karak, its too far from SG just to Kuantan [-X
unlike in Singapore, in Marang You can parking anywhere at there and its Free
if you doubt, don't park loneny there. So better you park at place that have many cars or people there - such front of kedai or parking area. Just lock your car and its safe.

Do you wanna go Chemerung waterfall?.. its the best Place in Terengganu.. very Welcome..!
im always going there almost every weeks..! near from my hometown at bandar AMBS.

and better if you not rush and want to back south, going from Kuantan to KL via Tol Karak then you can going from KL via NSE Tol and can out to Port Dickson (near Seremban), and just go through to Melaka via coast road and back to NSE to SG.

but it's all up to you. going follow NSE, Karak - Kuantan - Marang..
and back via Kuantan - Nenasi - Mersing - Kota Tinggi - JB...
its Could be reversed..

its up to you...
Good luck..!

If you are not experienced in driving Malaysian trunk/country roads at night, better do it daytime with better visibility and sights to behold. At night some parts of the roads are not well-lit, and must watch out for stray animals on the roads, unlit local bikes/cars/lorries, hidden bends, potholes, dubious signages, etc. There's a car park at the Marang jetty with attendants minding the cars. Just pay a small fee, quite safe and convenient.

On the way back, use the east coast trunk road Route 3. Overnighting either at Penyabong or Air Papan would be memorable.

I like the costal route from JB to Kuantan, took that during 2 trips to Kuantan and another time to Kenyir. Like you said it's great! ](*,) I should have thought of that.

Cuase Mapsource always like to route me through Yong Peng to hit N8. But that route a bit twisty and my helper gets car sick

Port Dickson been there but your suggestion of the Western Coastal route from Malacca down is great, can pass by Muar and Parit Jawa :peace:

Cheers again!
