Visiting Bangkok? Leave your GPS home....

Planing to visit Bangkok for upcoming school holiday, did some "test run" for auto routing, but got crazy results...
The following auto routing was set to Pedestrian, but got same result when set to Car/motocycle.
Seems like got to use the traditional method...a paper map and a compass

it was perfect for driving from Norway to Denmark
in 1993!

Did another car routing from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Hotel Ecotel Bangkok, think I'm better off with getting a taxi.

Bro rajabalak, may I ask which map are you using ? It seems that there is some problems in the routing capability of that map.
I had used Thailand GPS maps in downtown Bangkok and outside the city without any issues. They had brought me to POI of interest spot on.
As for your case, see example of the map I use by Rotweiler (
http://rotweilermaps.com/ ) which shows routing from/to your example POI.

Rajabalak,
I too have no problems routing within and outside Bangkok. I regularly rent a car when I visit Thailand and it has been a reliable tool.
Bro Silver, I like your choice of destination. Shopping straight to the Spa

I was using malfreemap 100802, seems like lots of work still needed to be done.
Thanks for the link to another map source, got to make a donation first...

Dear all sifus, is there any way to "copy" the google map or google earth data and "incorporate" them into MFM's map? I found these two maps are very accurate for my numerous tirps, even to off road track to the jungle.
I am using the google earth/map PATH to 'trace' the road and convert them to garmin mapsource data using GPS Babel. But it is limited to the specific routes, unlike auto routing where you just select a waypoint and go.
If legally permit, can MFM just trace all the "new" roads, e.g. Bangkok, into MFM map instead of waiting members to contribute, sort of like re-making the wheel?

It is illegal to copy any maps other than our own MFM map.
thanks for the idea..
