There you go! Those who have not been to NZ, look out for promo tix when service is launched. South Island NZ is an amazing experience, even though no Everest there. Well at least can visit Edmund Hillary's museum at Aoraki Mt Cook. :)

A team representing Christchurch and New Zealand finalised a deal this evening with the world’s fastest growing low cost carrier, Air Asia X, to bring long-haul flights direct from Kuala Lumpur to Christchurch.

That's good news! For years, airlines flying in and out of New Zealand have been charging over priced fares. Other destinations have seen airfares being lowered but New Zealand sector saw airlines working together like cartels to continue to charge high prices. Several airlines worked on code sharing basis while a few airlines just stopped flying into KL altogether.

Good on Air Asia! Now we will see "Now everyone can go to New Zealand!" Not that I will fly Air Asia but we will see airlines fares lowering to compete.... it can only be good for us travelers!
