thx.

i assume that you are talking about TTFF (time to first fix) on a cold start. Basically with A-GPS on, should able to lock satellite < 1 minute. While with A-GPS turn off, may take up to 20minutes or more which depends on clear weather, open air conditions.

Navigation wise 5800 will have screen refresh rate of 1~2 seconds.

Each satellite fix consumes < 10kB, so please refer to your tel. operator for GPRS charge rate.

Well, if you always traveling, suggest you go for Garmin device. Garmin device offers bigger screen for comfortable view. Refresh rate and map browsing definitely faster than 5800.

However if you looking for "all-in-one" device, then consider 5800. :tease:

How about own both =P~ :peace:

*available only on NSU (139.9MB). FOTA still staying at 30.0.011.
No kinetic scrolling, no N97 homescreen. [-(

Changes:
This software release comes with an advanced e-mail application, an improved navigation experience, and several performance improvements. With Nokia Messaging, you can quickly set up and use your e-mail accounts using an application that is optimised for mobile e-mail. An enhanced version of Ovi Maps 3.0 is also included.

In order to check for your phone firmware version, simply head to the main menu by pushing the middle button on your phone.

Next, tap on Settings (this has the spanner icon) and then choose Phone and scroll down to find the Phone Management utility. Tap on this and choose Device Updates. The page that appears will tell you the latest software version for your Nokia 5800.

Previous firmware version
31.0.008
30.0.011
21.0.025
20.0.015
11.0.008
10.0.010

1) my alarm clock so inaccurate. I set 8am, it rings at 8.03am
2) Normally I will set my time to 10 mins faster. Therefore, I disable the automatically times update. However, my time will be automatically adjust back after a day. :fire:
3) My Garmin always get hang after browsing the map for a while :( :frus:
4) i noticed that there are lines on my home screen now. is it normal? Why my phone jadi gila now

Bro koayhk,

The firmware can be downgraded to lower version but at your own risk. You have to use third party software for downgrade. Furthermore, you may void the manufacturer warranty.

1) alarm is known to be delay 1~4 minute from preset alarm time.
2) I do not have this issue instead mine one cannot automatically update even if set to auto update. I guess this feature is network dependent. You are using which network operator?
3) Garmin may get hang when browsing the map. No solution for the moment.
4) Can you share with us a screen snap of those 'lines". There are few light colored horizontal lines which is a separator between homescreen widget.

firmware now 31.0.101

1. no issue with alarm timing
2. i did not use auto update ( i think is network dependent )
3. this still happens with the firmware above, i think the processor cannot cope as its a phone cum gps
4. no lines for me

So far using firmware v31.0.101 and no issue with alarm or GMXT at all. It is better to hard reset after the firmware update even there is not required to do so. Most of the time i disable the A-GPS and i still can lock satellite within 1 to 2 minutes. Sometimes it happened more than 2 minutes, but most of the time within 2 minutes. And my GMXT today got 10 satellites lock signal in the rain, when driving from subang jaya to PJ.

are u sure we need a hard reset?

Hard Reset
Hard reset only works if you had previously updated the phone to v20. Please make backup before applying this type of reset, since it will restore the phone’s settings as well as erasing all the data in the phone memory.

1.Switch off the phone.
2.Press GREEN + RED + CAMERA + ON simultaneously until you see the “Select Country” option.
