Please throw away and buy a Garmin Nuvi,

U need to do some tuning at your Samsung using software editor and modify some number LIKE BELOW :

Use it at your own risk

1) download free total commander ce ( http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm )
2) after download & install , go to your device registry with total commander and see HKLM>> SYSTEM>>CURRENT CONTROL SET >> GPS INTERMEDIATE DRIVER
3) Change the following string values to nothing (don't delete them, just edit them and clear the value):
4) BEFORE CHANGE:

CurrentLogFile \GPSID_log.txt

OldLogFile \GPSID_log.bak

-----------------------------------
AFTER

CurrentLogFile

OldLogFile

5) Soft-reset your device
6) With File Explorer, go to My Device, and delete the two GPSID_log files you see, and the file named xtra. If you don't soft-reset, you will not be able to delete some of them.
7) if u dun see the file named xtra then nvm .just make sure u delete the two GPSID_log files after soft-reset .
8)Check again the registry setting. Sometimes in rare cases it may revert the settings back - but that's a general WM problem.
9) if it revert setting back again then go to step 3 untill u confirm the string value is nothing there , remember to soft reset after u clear the string values.
10) i do step 3 ,4 times untill i really confirmed the string valus nothing there .

That's interesting. I may try it on my wife's Omnia 2 which has been facing problems with sats lock. However before I do the registry tweaks and deletion of files, can you share with us as to why and how the changes made would help speed up sats lock? Is it just a matter of cleaning out old redundant log data? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have an issue...since I first install in Feb 2010 till now, there has been no voice directions, ie, "turn left or right in xxx meters". Did I miss out some configurations or did I do something wrongly? I'm using Mobile XT on my HTC HD2.

Please advise.....thanks!!!

Xtra is on but does not seem to help. Which serial port have you set for GPS? I have also tried using Intermediate but does not help. I have no such problems on my HD2.

@fredchia

have you checked your "AUDIO" settings> TOOLS> Settings>Audio>Volume Level On?, Voice Prompt: Enabled, Attention Tone: Enabled
