This handphone uses Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo), upgradable to v2.3 as its operating system. You may use Papago X5 for Android to run on this phone. I hope this helps.

I also just bought Samsung Ace yesterday and tried the built-in Papago X5 around Melaka. It runs smoothly and fast. On the downside, it doesn't have Tracklog which I would prefer to track without using the standalone Papago unit. Am downloading the latest papago maps as the map was installed in Apr 2010.

Re: Samsung Ace with Papago X5, running smoothly?

Postby mikelim » Tue May 17, 2011 3:49 pm

agree. But it runs smoothly and fast and that is important. Its just a slight slower. Ace is cheaper than S. SL is much cheaper than S but costlier around RM300 than SL for the Super clear screen and not worth it. Ace is more than adequate.
O:)

Good and smooth
No offense but i tried my fren's Ace, overall is OK but the touch screen not as responsive as Galaxy S
I noticed that to get a fast sat lock, I just need to turn on my google maps with my GPS satellite turned on in setting and quickly got a fast sat lock. And then I just turned on my papago X5 while the sat lock is still on.

That's an Android thing, rather than Papago specifically:

 1. Go to Settings > Sound.
 2. Uncheck Haptic Feedback.

That's at least what I remember for HTC Android phones.
Garmin nüvi 2575R; Garmin eTrex Vista HCx; Android 5.0.1 Phone
