Garmin Mobile XT route simulation question

Postby michhy » Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:07 am

Hi,
I basically know how to perform navigation on the GMXT (using on E72)
But i would like to know if GMXT allows us to simulate a route from location A to location B without having me to be currently being at location A ?

eg case: I'm currently in Melaka, but would like to find out the directions from LCCT to Sepang race track.
When I'm using Nokia Maps (the old old version) it allowed me to set the starting point and end point manually, so i can see in advance the route i will need to take, but in GMXT i cant find a way to do this?

If there's a way, or any workaround, pls kindly share!

try this:

1. disable ur gps signal
2. create ur route (LCCT to Sepang F1 Circuit) - save - go
3. simulate route

to create a route:
Tools - Manage My Data - Routes - Create New Saved Route -
Select Route Start Point: click From Find Menu - Point of Interest - Spell Name - Spell - type lcct & ok (wait awhile for POI to display), click Lcc Terminal (Lcct) - Select -
Select Final Destination: click From Find Menu - Point of Interest - Spell Name - Spell - type circuit & ok (wait awhile for POI to display), click Sepang F1 Circuit - Select -
Add An Intermediate Destination Point: click None -
Select Route Calculation Preference: click Faster Time -

to simulate a route
click Go -
(gmxt will automatically save ur route)
click back (the usual back/cancel for nokia) -
Tools - Simulate Route
(if nothing happen after click Simulate Route, redo click back & Tools - Simulate Route)

if u already hav a saved route, it is much easier:
1. disable ur gps signal
2. select ur saved route (Tools - Routes - View Routes - click ur saved route - Go
3. simulate ur route (click back - Tools - Simulate Route)

that's it :)
