Nowaday, it's a lot easier to make $10/app each from 100,000 users
But garmin still insists on their old way of $100 from 1000 users
IMO, that's how they failed although they have a ready and proven product.

Can Garmin be used for Iphone 3gs?
Dear Bro and Sis,
1. How can I install Garmin to my Iphone 3GS?
2. During navigation, is the data keep running or it can navigate without data and just using the satellite?

Re: iPhone ... .. more bragging rights
Btw, just managed to use the traditional method in getting MFM map into iPhone 3GS (Garmin Streetpilot on board).
Have not tried on the road yet... so fingers crossed. Hopefully it works..

Feel the map drawing very slow, sometimes cannot display routes. Wonder whether must create map with special options?

actually you can just change the map.
i tried on garmin usa / garmin uk and change the following:
Devices > (your name) iPhone > Apps > com.garmin.xxx (x indicating what you installed) > Garmin-nav.app > storage-na > .System > JCV
Replace the gmapprom.img to MFM gmapsupp.img (don't forget to rename to gmapprom.img).
Though I have yet to try it on route.

If you install the StreetPilot version then Garmin will constantly feeding from your 3G but then maps are for US. Though you can change the map.
If you are using the standalone version (Garmin USA or UK), then just change the original gmapprom to what you desire. This version will not feed on your 3g data (unless you're doing a google search). I've removed the data option in iphone settings and confirmed it was working fine.
