I'm sure there are ways to reverse engineered these maps.... but,.... wouldn't this be copycat? There are just too many 'Easter Eggs' in these maps to avoid being caught. I think it can be done but commercially not practical.... Cheers!

Just being provocative.

I think for these parties to reverse compile these maps and then use the raw data, then I would think they would have the presence of mind to be selective of the data they would reuse thus avoiding these hidden eggs. They would clever enough not to copy en bloc, like some people we know.

I doubt on it, at least in Malaysia....
I don't think the big boys will give details like the kampung, new village or felda tracks. This is where the local trackers are important.

Google have opened up for local Malaysian mappers/trackers to update their maps. You can now use http://www.google.com/mapmaker to update roads/pois/information missing from http://maps.google.com/ .

I've done so on Google MapMaker (GMM) for a few roads in Klang's Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2 that are missing from Google Maps. When you see those Lorong Batu Nilam 17A etc appearing on Google Maps then you know it came from here ...
