With both MFM and MSM maps loadable from Mapsource it is no longer necessary to use Snedmap20 or Gmaptools to combine the maps. Here is how I perform the combination of these maps.

- Load both MFM v1.03 and MSM v2.30 maps into Mapsource. Note:- you must uninstall MSM v2.29 before installing v2.30.
- Select the following map tiles from MFM: (Using map tool : Tools>Map)
Free EPM v2.34 by Antyong/Sunn Malfreemapsv1.03 2.27 MB
Free KL/S'gor v5.38 by Antyong, Sunn Malfreemapsv1.03 7.92 MB
MFM NPM v2.26 by OngCC Malfreemapsv1.03 3.97 MB
MFM PRK v3.45 by OngCC Malfreemapsv1.03 2.80 MB
Malfreemaps POI Malfreemapsv1.03 328 KB

- Then select these map tiles from MSM: (Using map tool : Tools>Map)
Brunei-Rv1.7 by Envincem & BernGPS Malsingmaps 1.19 MB
Johor-R v2.66 Jerome Wee Malsingmaps 3.29 MB
MNS-R v4.28 wsian Malsingmaps 1.76 MB
S'pore-R v3.74 Jerome Wee Malsingmaps 2.77 MB
Sabah-Rv3.23 by BernGPS Malsingmaps 2.52 MB
Sarawak-R 3.22 by BernGPS Malsingmaps 3.46 MB

The final map list is as follows:-
Brunei-Rv1.7 by Envincem & BernGPS Malsingmaps 1.19 MB
Free EPM v2.34 by Antyong/Sunn Malfreemapsv1.03 2.27 MB
Free KL/S'gor v5.38 by Antyong, Sunn Malfreemapsv1.03 7.92 MB
Johor-R v2.66 Jerome Wee Malsingmaps 3.29 MB
MFM NPM v2.26 by OngCC Malfreemapsv1.03 3.97 MB
MFM PRK v3.45 by OngCC Malfreemapsv1.03 2.80 MB
MNS-R v4.28 wsian Malsingmaps 1.76 MB
Malfreemaps POI Malfreemapsv1.03 328 KB
S'pore-R v3.74 Jerome Wee Malsingmaps 2.77 MB
Sabah-Rv3.23 by BernGPS Malsingmaps 2.52 MB
Sarawak-R 3.22 by BernGPS Malsingmaps 3.46 MB

- For those who has Jerome's map replace the MSM Johor & Sg tiles with Jereome's map (untested).
- Click on Map Set Name and un-check Autoname map set field.
- Type in your preferred Map Set Name > OK
- Connect your GPS and send to device (Transfer>Send to device)
- Eject your GPS and test your work.

For those with other maps or utilities (eg. Post code/POI HDB) that you need to combine with the maps you can use Gmaptool to do so. You can use my final version of the Gmaptool Join map program at MSM HERE. If your have extracted the post code/POI HDB.. etc files from the Gmapsupp.img remember to use sendmap20 to generate a gmapsupp.img for your files before combining with the combined map using Gmaptool.

Hope this helps and any feedback is very much appreciated.... cheers!

Does this still valid with MFM 1.10 ?

how do i search for addresses in sabah and sarawak? when i change country to malaysia, then under spell city, when i type sabah, the only search result i get is sabak bernam, selangor whereas when i type sarawak, nothing comes out. also when i type kuching or kota kinabalu, nothing appears in the search. I joined the borneo maps using the mapsource technic by bro moey.

Bro Aceedburn,

I change the Country to Borneo, then spell city Sabah/Sarawak. Work well with my nuvi760.

when i press 'b" in country, it automatically shows me brunei only, therefore unable to select borneo. did you select the brunei map tile as well in mapsource?

Actually, here is the proper step.
  • Select Country - Select Brunei
  • Spell state/Province - Select Borneo
  • Spell City - Here there are 3 to select
    1) Brunei, Borneo
    2) Sabah, Borneo &
    3) Sarawak, Borneo

bro edgarchen, when i select country brunei, a pop up window for state/province automatically appears with only 2 options, i.e. brunei-muara and Temburong. I'm unable to select any other state/province and searches for borneo sabah and sarawak returns empty too.

Sorry for the wrong information in earlier post. I actually selected the country as Brunei, not Borneo, and from there spell city.

Yes, I selected the brunei map tile as well in mapsource.

Here is how i loaded my maps.

I loaded the below tiles into my device via mapsource
Brunei-Rv1.7 by Envincem & BernGPS Malsingmaps 1.19 MB
Free EPM v2.34 by Antyong/Sunn Malfreemapsv1.03 2.27 MB
Free KL/S'gor v5.38 by Antyong, Sunn Malfreemapsv1.03 7.92 MB
Johor-R v2.66 Jerome Wee Malsingmaps 3.29 MB
MFM NPM v2.26 by OngCC Malfreemapsv1.03 3.97 MB
MFM PRK v3.45 by OngCC Malfreemapsv1.03 2.80 MB
MNS-R v4.28 wsian Malsingmaps 1.76 MB
S'pore-R v3.74 Jerome Wee Malsingmaps 2.77 MB
Sabah-Rv3.23 by BernGPS Malsingmaps 2.52 MB
Sarawak-R 3.22 by BernGPS Malsingmaps 3.46 MB

then I used gmaptool to join these maps with the gmapsupp.img from my device.

Malfreemaps POI Malfreemapsv1.03 328 KB
MySin Road Pois v2.30
Borneo Road Pois v2.30

So, that's it. If I don't select any country, sabah and sarawak, borneo searches are fine. If I select Malaysia, it can't, and if I select Brunei, it only gives me 2 states to choose from.

I just check my Nuvi300 and the address search is fine for all places. Will try your setup later... cheers!
