Img name which acceptable by Build in memory are:
gmapbmap, gmapprom, gmapprom1,gmapoem and gmapsupp.
Img name which acceptable by External memory are:
gmapsupp.
Since 60CSx build in memory which unable to edit, it is read only memory which store Basemap v4.0 by Garmin.
Thus,
60CSx only accept img name gmapsupp which store at microSD™ card
but gmapsup2 invalid. ....

For Nuvi users, connect up your Nuvi, look for file Garmindevice.xml, double click the file and IE will launch it, look for the following text ..

Location>
<Path>Garmin/gpx</Path>
<BaseName>current</BaseName>
<FileExtension>GPX</FileExtension>
</Location>
<TransferDirection>OutputFromUnit</TransferDirection>
</File>
</DataType>
- <DataType>
<Name>BaseMaps</Name> - <File>
- <Specification>
<Identifier>IMG</Identifier>
</Specification>
- <Location>
<Path>Garmin</Path>
<BaseName>gmapbmap</BaseName>
<FileExtension>img</FileExtension>
</Location>
<TransferDirection>InputOutput</TransferDirection>
</File>
</DataType>
- <DataType>
<Name>PreProgrammedMaps</Name> - <File>
- <Specification>
<Identifier>IMG</Identifier>
</Specification>
- <Location>
<Path>Garmin</Path>
<BaseName>gmapprom</BaseName>
<FileExtension>img</FileExtension>
</Location>
...

from the file content, you will know upon boot up, what your Nuvi unit will recognise and load what files and what will not be loaded ...
Device : Edge 800, Nuvi 1460 SG/My, Oregon 300

Supported img file names

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12 is locked and so is viewtopic.php?f=11&t=124 so am posting here. Please move to relevant thread.

Garmin 205w. US version. SW 3.10

In unit:gmapbmp, gmapprom, gmaptz
In SD card: gmapsupp

MFM map imgs patched with PatchIMG 1.10 then copied as gmapsup2.img in SD card, gmappoem.img in either unit or SD card do not work. As gmapprom1.img in unit or gmapsupp.img in unit seems to confuse unit-normal ticks against the malsingmaps Jan 2008 and US 49 states but also ticks but no map names!
