My ASEAN Free GPS Map Project

Recently I was planning to go to Tanjung Malim Perak. The shorter distance and fastest distance showed that the route is via k.lipis, raub, gombak and tjg malim.

However, from my calculation the best route is via Gerik, k.kangsar, Ipoh - Tjg Malim highway.

Need members opinion. Tq

my model is nuvi 200w. new version of MFM 21-12-2009, still unable to calculate the route from any poi in Kota bharu - Tambun poi

route from Kota Bharu to KL and vise versa use Terengganu/Kuantan road instead of Gua Musang/Kuala Lipis... map used is MFM 100104...

Got similar result when trying to simulate the route in GMXT v5.00.20w and Nuvi710.

cannot route starting point : Kota Bharu town to Sungai Siput town 'Unable to calculate' - model : Nuvi 200w. route preferences : untick all avoidence & tested faster time and shortest distance.

I enquired Bro Antyong about this problem, and was told this issue only affects the older Nuvis, ie. xx0 as well as GMXT, and currently is unable to be fixed. So, as a workaround (for devices/softwares capable of multiple-point routing, ie. Nuvi7x0, GMXT), one needs to set a route to a much earlier point than the destination and then only add a (or more) point(s) until the final destination.

For example, if my start location is at Kota Bharu, and my destination is set as Tambun, I get 'Unable to calculate' message when trying to set the route in my Nuvi710. So as a workaround, I then set the first destination as a location along the East-West Highway (Route4), and then only edit the route to extend to Tambun, and that does the job. However, as said earlier this works only with devices/softwares that supports multiple-point routing.

Bro zuree.. I'm using nuvi 200 and i tried simulating the route from Kota Bharu town (N6 07.530 E102 14.276) to Sungai Siput town (N4 49.233 E101 04.211) on both "Shorter" and "Faster" option (and unticked all avoidances) and managed to get a route as per below. Note: Both faster & shorter gives the same results.

However the route is not the recommended one (try calculating the same route in Mapsource - its 667km in Nuvixx0 vs. 454km in Mapsource). I believe this has got to do with the said issue that is affecting the older Nuvis.

Unable to be fixed?

That's true bro dvdpro.. usually I have to select via point somewhere along the East-West highway to make it choose the recommended route. One question though.. why the East-west highway not in green colour? Is it because no toll?
