How to Change MFM Map Display Setting in MapSource

Dear All
I understand that some of the Bros here uninstall and reinstall MFM map for many times whenever there is a need to send MFM map to their GPS devices (to be more precise, the steps involve are uninstall -> reinstall -> send map -> uninstall -> reinstall). This is due to they have different preferences to display customization for MapSource and their GPS devices, especially for Streetpilots, nuvi and MXT users where their display customization preferences are “Original Road” for GPS devices and “Full Customization” for MapSource.
In order to simplify the process of changing the display customization setting in MapSource, I have created a DOS batch program to switch MFM map display setting between “Full Customization” & “Original Road”. You can download the program below.
How to use this program:
1) Download the attached MFM_Map_Display_Setting.rar file which contains two files,
i) MFM_Map_Display_Setting.bat – DOS batch scripts file
ii) MFM_Map_Display_Setting.exe – executable file
These 2 programs are performing the same task.
2) Extract the bat and/or exe file/s (depend on your need) and save it in any folder in your PC.
3) Double click the program (bat or exe) whenever there is a need to change MFM map display setting in MapSource.
This will toggle the display setting between “Full Customization” and “Original Road”.
4) Run MapSource, you are going to have new display customization setting for MFM map now. Please note that this
program can run without quit the MapSource, but the changes will only take effect after rerun Mapsource.
5) Double click the program again and rerun MapSource. This will restores the MFM map display setting to original setting.
Important notes:
a) This program only works if you have installed MFM map in default directory, i.e. C:\Garmin\Malfreemaps\.
b) This program involves change of registry in your PC and it may cause problem to your MapSource. Users are used it at
their own risk.
c) I have tested this program in my PC with Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, so far so good and never
encountered any problem with MapSource.
Your feedback is welcomed for improvement.
