Im not sure, old papago unit (Holux & Altina) that have 64MB ram can run X8. I read from anywhere, minimum 128MB to Run X8.

The question everyone wants to ask is, IF someone with a high command post in MFM is being PAID to moderate all this.

Rumours have said that they/he has been receiving monthly allowances for all the effort that has been put in to ensure that the BRAND has full control here. They/he have also been WINE AND DINE, ANGPOH during festive holidays and even flew to Taiwan, Europe etc on the expenses of the said BRAND.

There is no other reason I could think of other then the above, which is WHY MFM MOTTO is no longer about its users community BUT everything that has been done here now is for the benefit of the mention BRAND!!!

And the worst part now happening in MFM is, due to all this, it is falling apart, many mappers do not agree to the undertaking the person has committed with the said BRAND.

MFM was split from MSM due to their differences, and has been setup by its founder to provide community maps for all its community members. Not for PROFIT, No question was ever ask or rules set that only units supplied by XXX Company can use its Garmin Maps.

Perhaps it is time again for those who support the Original MFM founder vision of FREE COMMUNITY MAPS to relook if it is time to move on, to another place where the directions of community is once again the motto and vision of community mapping.

Let’s not be in the MERCY of those who lead for the mean of profiting from the community. Boycott them.

If they think x8 is hack proof/crack proof maybe they're wrong. Soon or later the software will get hacked... please la MACTION pitty of the other customer who dump the money to buy original software.. this not about to save thier products from cracker/hacker but more to profit without thinking other ppl lost..

My opinion is that we shouldn't plea as MACTION should know how to discharge his responsibility towards customers. Let's wait for answer as no point keep barking. It's becoming very interesting to see how MFM/MACTION response. REMEMBER: Every move has its consequences.

2. This is the same software used by Papago developers to create the map.
3. Part of the agreement in allowing MFM to use the software is that M3GPS (or Maction) dictates the terms of use (as seen in no more update for previous version).
4. Without the software there can be no MFM for Papago.

I don't think the moderators are being paid to do as some people say (just rumour). If you don't like what M3GPS (or Maction) then vote with your wallet. Buy Garmin or TomTom or something else. Companies are led by people who look at their bottom line. You can affect their bottom line by not buying their products.

Directing your anger or displeasure towards the moderators would not accomplish much. They are not the one calling the shots, the company is.

In my experience, voting with your wallet is the only way the companies would listen to their customers.

The original mfm Papago map is compiled by mfm founder using a compiler not issue by M3. The original agreement by mfm founder for compiling of mfm Papago maps is allowing anyone who owned a Papago licence software device to use the mfm maps and not limiting to only M3 devices.

It is sad that the founder is no longer here in mfm, and someone who took over his work was being manipulated/paid to limit the use of mfm maps.

Someone is definitely benefiting from the so call agreement if there is any. They/He assist the company to dictates the terms of use. WHAT TERMS OF USE??? MFM OWNS the maps and not THEM!!! Unless that someone is getting fat from all this ANGPOH monthly, if not why agree to let them screw own backside?

What I have posted is the HARD TRUTH. There are even events when they/he is not happy on how much or what they/he is getting and delayed the compiling of the MFM maps.

Yes, I am definitely angry, BUT not because I am not getting to split the money or gifts with them/him.
I am angry because They/He is killing the original MFM MOTTO set by the founder for their/him own monetary benefit.

Vote to STOP compiling MFM PAPAGO maps until they agree to MFM Terms and Condition!!!
If what I said is WRONG, then there is no REASON why MFM should not STOP compiling MFM PAPAGO maps unless they allow MFM to work independently and compile MFM PAPAGO maps for all users who owns devices that runs on PAPAGO or its OEM brand software.

Of cause, if what I said is CORRECT, then this thread will be deleted very soon, and the issue ignore, monthly paid out of monetary gains and gifts will continue.

Sorry, saya tulis dalam Bahasa sahaja kerana saya tak pandai tulis Bahasa Inggeris tetapi walaupun saya tak pandai tulis , saya boleh baca Bahasa Inggeris dan saya faham dan apa yang saya baca , harap member member MFM boleh faham.

Pertama sekali, saya juga tak puas hati dengan MFM kerana jika tulisan yang diatas ditulis oleh lesterdavid34 itu betul, maka tak adil langsung dibuat oleh MFm kerana tidak memberi peluang kepada pengguna Papago, wayway dan lain lain yang mana membeli papago GPS original dan ada lesen tetapi tak dapat menggunakan peta MFM yang terbaru sekali. Mereka juga adalah contributor dahulu dan pernah contribute tracks, poi dan juga feedback untuk upgrade peta MFM sehingga menjadi terbaik sekarang ini dan GPs yang mereka gunakan ialah X3, X5 dan lain lain, tapi apakah yang mereka dapat sekarang cuma peta MFM setakat bulan Ogos,2011 sahaja walhal org yang baru beli Papago x 8 dapat benefit dari peta ini pulak, ini memang tak adil langsung. Tak sepatutnya berlaku dalam comunity MFM ini kerana dari awal awal lagi MFM ditubuhkan untuk memberi peta MFM secara percuma sahaja kepada sesiap sahaja pengguna GPS.

Saya harap senior mapper MFM dapat memberi penerangan adakah benar perkara yang disebut oleh lesterdavid34 tu.

MFM untuk semua bukannya untuk individu tertentu sahaja.

Item 3 is definitely the killer.
It is for sure against/conflicting with mfm's published motto.
Not sure who has represented mfm agreeing to the term of use (of the compiler), when was it happen and where the formal agreement is filed?
Don't tell us it is only a verbal agreement which has not been made official within mfm.

If mfm motto is not right, we should involve members to change/improve it.
But before the change, all should adhere to the published motto in full.
Who is the leader of mfm now?
This mfm motto infringement has caused a lot of uncertainty to members and other customers.
This infringement warrants mfm leader come up and inform members about a plan to ratify the unfavorable term of use of the Papago compiler with Maction/M3GPS.
Don't drag, act on quick before the balloon is bursting.
IMHO, we should stop compiling Papago maps (be it X8, X5, etc) immediate and renegotiate with Maction/M3GPS pushing them to respond voices of all unhappy members/customers with viable action plans.

If all statements been said are true[of which I'm naive], then the plot of getting x3/5/7Reality user to abandon their units in favour of buying x8 [for those who can't upgrade is indeed a very clever 'modus operandi'. Luckily we don't fall to this trap.

MFM and MACTION now should do damage control.
