Kuala Tahan

Postby freiburger » Wed Feb 10, 2010 10:20 pm

Hope I am posting this in the right thread, since this is my first contribution to this project.

I will be in Malaysia in march for a couple of weeks. My plan is to hike in Taman Negara, my base will be Kuala Tahan so far. I already checked the map and it has some good information on the village. What I am missing is some more information on trails in the forrest. I checked some of the posts here, but it seems like there are only a few POI and parts of trails available.

Am I missing something, are there not more information available?

I will be carrying a Royaltek GPS Logger and maybe a Garmin Dakota with me. So I guess after that I might be able to share some of my tracks. Is there a topo map available for this region?

My biggest problem is, that some of the names in this map don't match with the official Tarman Negara map from Tourism Malaysia. Hope we can get this cleared.

regards
Kai

Bro Sunn, some update on walking trails at Taman Negara which is located at UiTM-Perhilitan Research Station at Kuala Keniam. This trail was used by tourist to go to Gua Luas (4 km from research station) and Gua Kepayang (8 km). Kuala Keniam is located about 27 km from Jetty Kuala Tahan an about 1 hour an 15 minutes upstream journey by boat. You may experienced 9 rapids passing kuala tahan, canopy walk and kampung pagi.
