Re: Restoran Woo Lan

Postby AW* » Mon Jun 15, 2009 12:06 pm

Hi

Coordinates for Restoran Woo Lan. It's definitely recommended.   .
Specially recommended is their "4 season dish" which has to be ordered in advance. Others are their "jiew pai" or chef recommendation. We tried stir-fry greens, "jiew pai" mee sua (interesting take and combination with fried seaweed) and tau fu "kang" (something like sharkfin soup except ingredients are white tau fu, egg white, crab meat, slices of chicken meat, sea weed and other ingredients). All very tasty except the greens were oily (for us that is). We forgot to add the black vinegar to the tau fu kang but used it as dip for the mee sua and it was just as good! :) sorry no photos but i got the details :

Restoran Woo Lan
No. 19, Jalan Scott, 50470 Kuala Lumpur.
Tel : 03-22748368

here goes :

1) Ambiance : 3.5/5 ( but i do like their collection of coca-cola bottles at the cashier's - interesting collection )

2) Food (taste) : 5/5

3) Price : 4/5

4) Cleanliness : 4/5

5) Business Hours :11.30am - 3.00pm & 5.30pm to 10.00pm

6) Parking : if you don't find one, just go round the block again.

1) City Village
Interior decor neat and modern - but check out their ceiling decor - interesting. New concept of WIFI - just bring yourself to surf - they provide pcs for your surfing or gaming experience. Con is the monitor(flat screen) are stuck to the wall, so if you're really surfing a long time or playing games, may get a crick in the neck or still shoulders. They're quite new, having been in business for about 6 months plus. Menu is still changing. Chef recommendations do not dissapoint but it is tad pricey considering the size of serving (too small in my opinion especially for 3 pax).

Compiled. v9.72 :tq: for the details information.
 gee, i passed by City Village over the weekend and noticed they don't have Wi-Fi anymore, in fact the whole interior decor has changed from ceiling to floor and definitely no more PCs. :( change of management perhaps but name is still City Village!

F&B is really competitive.Huh? So fast?? Anyway, still have the coordinates? :tq:

Re: Tiang Seng Pulau Ketam Steamboat

Postby AW* » Mon Jun 15, 2009 12:35 pm

Here's another steamboat restaurant recommendation for all ye steamboat afficinados.

Tiang Seng Pulau Ketam Steamboat is smartly is operated by a Pulau Ketam native (or so i heard). Three variation of soup base : regular (chicken stock), herbal and tom yam. Previously it was just regular and herbal as the proprietress insisted tom yam soup base will detracts or hides the true flavours of her steamboat products. The steamboat is fresh and tasty (although i suspect as with all commerically prepared food, MSG has a hand in enhancing the flavours). This shop is hit by the economic condition in that it has reduced the proportion of its serving per person and also increased the price. TWo years ago, it was Rm11+ per pax (per person serving), since then it has steadily increased to Rm14 per pax (per person serving). I know this seems to be the "standard" charges but still want to grouse about it

1) Ambiance : 2/5 (just a regular shop with minimal decoration but good in a way - less dust, more clean)

2) Food : 4/5 (points for freshness)

3) Price : you decide

4) Cleanliness : 4/5

5) Hours : 5pm till 10pm (forgot which day they're closed)

6) Parking : free parking after 6pm.

Dear All,
I would like to contribute a few POI from Banting. I am using a Mac with roadtrip. Cannot save the POI into gdb files. So here's the jpeg files:
1. Banting Char Kuey Teow. One of the best around. Open from lunch time to late night.
