Hi guys
can someone give me his opinion on this problem i faced?
I tried to navigate from Woodlands industrial park to East Coast McDonalds.
The gps took me to the Causeway and made a u turn . I went home and tried it on simulation mode and it brought me into Johor before doing a uturn but the simulation stopped in the middle of the causeway.
However when i tried to plot route on Mapsource it showed an acceptable or logical route to east coast park
Anyway knows what happened or has come across this problem?
Thanks

With the 100405 maps, when creating a gmapsupp.img, I checked the following:

Excluded colored polygons
Include Road POI
Full (customisation)
Large Icons

It looks beautiful, less lines, and the POIs are sweet (color-wise that is) O:)

your avoidance on both mapsource and the garmin device is different therefore they choose to route you a different route..
eg.. on mapsource, u enable uturn avoidance, therefore it calculate a route that would not include a uturn..
on ur device, u disable uturn avoidance, therefore the device will calculate the best possible route including uturn..

to change avoidance on mapsource, go to preference and choose your avoidance from there..

Ok noted but my concern is why does it bring me all the way to Johor causeway before going a very much longer way that does not make sense. is it a problem with my download or .....

tikki,

I understand your problem. I have encountered such problem of illogical routing before (the routing took me one big, big merry go round Bedok Reservior including going over the water) and it turned out to be an error in the map. Sometimes, I also find that such illogical routing can occur if your start or end point is not near a road.

If you can give us the exact start and end point (as in name of POI or building), it is easier for us to simulate your exact route and verify your problem.

Don't get me wrong. My encounter was with a previous map, not this map. But I will try to simulate your route with the present map.

I have not downloaded the latest 100405 map but am using last week's 100329a map. Running this map on my GMXT on Nokia, I encounter no problem at all.

Set start point at 132 Woodlands Industrial Park E5
End point at Beach Cabana - Carpark 3c

Routing took me along Woodlands various roads then SLE > CTE > PIE > KPE > ECP > East Coast. Seems right.

Sometimes, I find that my previously saved locations no longer work. Maybe if you are routing to a previously saved location, delete it, and search for and choose destination again.

Did you have this problem with previous maps?
