Garmin has announced the GPSMAP 78 series, an updated series of marine handhelds combining many features of the Oregon and 76 models.

I've always been partial to the 76 Series despite its 'larger' size. Nothing oddly sticks out from the case as in the antenna of the 60 Series.

I'll be ready to pounce! :mrgreen:

Looks good, but I am still inclined to go for the Oregon 550 which is slightly smaller in physical size but with a bigger screen.

The 78 series does "float" and has double the internal memory vs the 550.

Don't do much terrains / foliage use. More of a urban user thus the Oregon form factor fits my usage pattern.

Price wise about $50 difference.
