Mont Kiara Ramp To Ease Traffic Congestion


KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 (Bernama) -- Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor today opened a ramp which is expected to ease traffic congestion in the Mont Kiara and Sri Hartamas area of the Sprint Highway.

The Mont Kiara Ramp, which connects Sri Hartamas, Mont Kiara and Kerinchi Link to the Penchala Link, would help disperse the density of traffic on the existing temporary bypass, he said.

"Hitherto, road users living in the Mont Kiara and Sri Hartamas areas wanting to go to Jalan Duta, Duke (Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway) and Penchala Link only had two lanes to use.

"This new ramp will ease the movement of almost 22,000 vehicles per day," he told reporters after opening the ramp.

Shaziman said the 50-metre ramp, which was delayed for seven years owing to problems related to acquisition of land, was completed in five months after the intervention by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who had immediately approved about RM20 million for the acquisition of land.

On another matter, he said the ministry was undertaking a study on traffic flow to revive the 600-km West Coast Highway project which will connect Johor Baharu to Taiping.

The project was initiated in the 1990's but postponed due to the financial crisis, he added.

I know where is it. If you come from PJ direction and toward Jalan Duta via Sprint Highway, you will see it near the "ramp" to the Mont Kiara. Is long build ramp there and just open recently. (few days old only)
