Posted this in KLS-POI back in 30 April 2010:-

Please rename Jalan Barat in Petaling Jaya to Jalan Dr V. David. [From N3 06.015 E101 38.532 to N3 06.157 E101 38.398]. Would be good if however can put in bracket the old road name, just in case.

PETALING JAYA: Jalan Barat here will be renamed Jalan Dr V. David on Labour Day on May 1 by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Datuk Khalid Ibrahim, the Malaysian Trades Union Congress said in a statement on Friday.

MTUC thanked the Selangor government for recognising Dr David’s contribution to the labour movement.

Dr David, who died in July 2005 was a unionist and a former opposition DAP politician.

He won a seat in parliament representing the constituencies of Bangsar in 1959 and Damansara in 1978.

In parlaiment, he was known to be fearless and vocal in raising labour and Indian community issues.

He also served as MTUC secretary-general from 1976 to 1992. He was also the Transport Workers Union secretary-general from 1958 to 1995.

David was best known for setting up the Workers Institute of Technology (WIT) in Port Klang in the early 1970s, which provided education opportunities for thousands of workers' children over the years.

At the international level, he served as the executive board member of the International Transport Federation and the International Confederation of Free Trade Union, and represented Malaysian workers at numerous International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conferences in Geneva, Switzerland.

He was arrested under the Emergency Ordinance in 1958 and then arrested again under the Internal Security Act 1964, 1969 (after May 13 racial riots) and 1987.

Hi,

sorry for not using mapsource to provide feedback on routing error. don't have mapsource at work (and also not allowed to install). fyi, i never encountered these errors prior to may 2010. using these routes quite frequently too.

1) Routing from Restoran May Kheng (along Jalan Yew) to Restoran Siew Ngap Fei (Jalan Yap Hin). Routing generated by MFM 100517 and MFM 100510 are wrong. Both routed straight past the traffic light junction of Jalan Seladang – Jalan Pasar (where RHB Bank is). Traffic can turn right at this junction and it is legal right turn.

2) Routing from Sek Men (P) Bandaraya (Changkat Thamby Dollah) to RHB Centre KL (Jalan Tun Razak). My position was at this school and nearest (shortest) route would be to proceed to Jalan Sultan Ismail – Jalan Imbi junction and make a legal U-turn here, keep left follow road to Kg Pandan roundabout, keep left to Jalan Tun Razak and make a U-turn at the Jalan Bukit Bintang – Jalan Tun Razak junction.

a) However MFM route me to Jalan Sultan Ismail then to Raja Chulan then to Jalan Tun Razak

b) Even after I made the U-turn at Jln Imbi-Jln Sultan Ismail junction and started towards Kg Pandan roundabout, MFM continued to instruct me to keep right to Smart Tunnel!
